"Went for a dinner on 11/1/2023. The hosts were welcoming and had us seated. The ambience was great as well, but when it comes to food, it was sub-par for the price and hype - at least the common opinion on our table. The restaurant claims to be fusion Indian, however that doesn’t discount you from flavour and quality. I’ve added specific dish wise feedback below Drinks - we tried a couple of cocktails and they were pretty decent and well priced. Starters - we had the gobi and bao’s. Both were flavoured well. The gobi was relatively less (6 florets) as compared to the Bao serving. It’s the restaurants’ prerogative of course, but a few more florets won’t upset the balance sheets I am sure, rather it will bring me back with more people. Tashan needs to think long term. Main course - we had the paneer eggs, very innovative dish I must say. Decent quantity as well but had relative less sauce as compared to other dishes. It might have been done to plate, such that the eggs stay visible but lack of gravy defeats the balance. We also had the dal makhni which was very disappointing, somewhat undercooked and lacked smoothness of a Dal Makhani. I understand if we are trying to make it vegan but dont call it dal makhani for god sake - you’re definitely missing expectations. It was some urad dal + Rajma which tasted okay. Tip: google crockpot dal makhani recipes, follow the first half of slow cooking your daily order volume to get the lentils right, I am sure you’ll manage the flavouring post that. Rice - THE WORST - cheapest quality basmati, overcooked, clumping together - not the finesse you expect from a restaurant of this calibre. I informed the chef about both dal and rice. It wasn’t consumed well at our table. I am more than happy to come in a demonstrate how to make simple, yet amazing rice that’ll blow away your guests. (Both vegan and vegetarians) Breads - we had some naans and laccha parantha. Parantha was great, crispy and layered. The naan although fluffy, was a clump of dough at places (30%). A decent naan has thickness but not such that you get clumps of dough in your mouth as you reach the sides. Making a good naan takes talent. Also, pro tip - it’s tricky to get it thin if you aim for a round shape. Try elongated ovals and triangles and hopefully you’ll get it right. Overall, walking around, I saw other dishes which were plated well but the owners/chef needs to put a sharp eye to portion parity and quality checks as the food leaves the kitchen. One main dish for similar cost cannot have disproportionately less gravy volume as compared to the other. It will take a little bit of time to give this restaurant another try and even longer to recommend it unless some changes are made."
"Reservation highly recommended, especially on weekends. The manager was a little rude as we had walked in. Apparently they are low on staff, we were not seated in spite of the tables being empty. But they did a pretty good job on improving our experience once we got a table. Ambience is classy. The server was friendly and humorous, lightening our moods, and providing a fun, comfortable experience. The menu is very innovative, providing good options in alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic drinks, and vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian dishes. I would have liked it if they had a longer menu. Food was awesome. Presentation of all the dishes was at par. Taste was quite close to the taste we get in India. Price is on a higher side. But this place is not only for food, but for an experience. Overall it was an amazing experience, with great ambience, great food, and great service."
"Polished ambiance with fancy looking food. The place is a tad bit expensive for the taste, but it makes up in ambiance and service. We were seated to our table as soon as we got there (we reached earlier than our reservation), the staff was great and we’ll accommodating. We got our food and drinks pretty quickly and they all tasted good. Would recommend their Indian drinks (I had the mango mirchi and loved it). If you are looking for a place for a fancy dinner this would be a wonderful place !"
"Nestled in an elegant and vibrant ambiance, this Indian restaurant captivates with its innovative menu and an impressive array of cocktails. Its alluring cocktail creations are not only visually appealing but also tantalizing to the palate. While some dishes could benefit from a bolder flavor profile, we thoroughly relished the culinary offerings. The spice levels leaned towards medium to mild, which might be surprising for fans of robust Indian flavors. The meticulous attention to detail in both decor and ambiance speaks volumes, creating an inviting space to savor a nearly fine dining experience. The staff's exceptional warmth and service further enhance the overall appeal of this establishment, making it a go-to choice for those seeking a delightful fusion of taste and hospitality."
