"I haven't really been able to get a proper haircut in about 18 months because of the pandemic so I was long overdue. I had gotten a few haircuts throughout that time just to hold me over, but none that I was really happy with. My hair is really finicky and is definitely showing my age so I always need to go through lengths to explain my thoughts/concerns to explain how I want my hair cut, but a lot of times my comments seem to fall on deaf ears and my haircut doesn't really come out the way I was hoping for it to look. The person will usually say something along the lines of, "I think I know what you're saying", without really showing me how they actually understood me. Part of that could be my fault, but I always bring a picture as a reference to describe the style and also bring attention to the quirks of my hair so I like to think that I do a good job of illustrating what I'm looking for. I came here after some research online and decided that I would give this place a try after I kept seeing Karen's name come up; and I'm really glad I came here. When I first arrived, I learned that I had gone to the wrong place. I guess there are two salons side by side at the same address? There are glass doors on the left and right at the top of the stairs. I went into the one on the left thinking both doors were the same. I was wrong. learned that my appointment was actually set up with the salon on the right. I came with tempered expectations that quickly turned into trust and trust into excitement. Karen welcomed me and noticed that I was wearing a mask so she asked me if I would like her to put on a mask as well. I told her that I would wear mine, but that she was free to do as she wants. She said that she would reciprocate and put on her mask as well. Then came the chat about what kind of haircut I was looking for. After telling her my spiel, she confirmed to me that she understood what I said through her own words, which more eloquently described what I was looking for. Having that feedback loop really assured me that she was giving to give me what I was looking for. Not only that, but she went on to ask me more questions (really good questions!) that showed me that she lives and breathes hair and pays attention to detail. Needless to say, I was really happy with my haircut and looking forward to coming back again!"
