Reviews of Shelburne Falls Vet Hospital
"My miniature poodle just had hip dysplasia surgery. I’m amazed at how quickly she has healed. Dr Broady and his staff were so supportive through this unexpected health issue. Friendly and compassionate environment."
"On Friday August 25, I visited the Shelburne Falls Veterinary Hospital. This is a new vet for us and was the only vet we could get who was taking new patients. My dog is a very active Texas heeler herding dog. Loud barks and intense strong behavior but great with kids and cats. We have never had an incident. We spend lots of time making sure that he is in environments that are ok for his temperament. We live in the woods and he is a happy fella. I informed the vet that we had a dog like this and that he was very loud and reactive in new environments and highly anxious. They assured me that they have back rooms and kennels for these situations. The told me they could muzzle him. My dog developed a severe ear hematoma and was in extreme pain that was affecting his behavior. He needed immediate treatment and pain relief. I explained this situation to the veterinary staff and brought him in. We were not taken to the private room space that we asked for. Dr. Brody approached us and did not introduce himself or address us. His manner was cold and full of contempt. He acted like my dog was a nuisance and I immediately thought I cannot leave my pet with this man. He roughly grabbed my dog’s injured ear making him growl and cry out. I said my dog growled at you when you did that. He is in pain do not touch his ear. I repeated that he needed a private room or a muzzle many times. He told me he wanted me to hold him while he got sedated. I waited for instructions and instead he jabbed the needle into my dog’s neck without preparation. My dog yelped and wheeled around to defend himself and lunged at the doctor. The doctor screamed get him the hell out of here I have wounds. He screamed get out multiple times. Wounds were not seen. The doctor had long sleeves and buttoned cuffs and I saw no contact was made by my dog. The doctor went to the back room and said nothing to us. We were very shaken up and asked what to do and we’re told to leave immediately. The young brown haired staff member physically shoved my husband by pushing the door into him. My husband had to brace himself on the stoop to keep from falling and asked her to not push him. At no time during this incident were we unkind or rude. We left shaken and upset. We are filing a complaint with the AVMA and the state of Massachusetts Professional Licensure Board. My dog was sedated and thrown out of their office unable to walk. We went back to ask what sedative was given to my dog and we were told to wait outside. We were finally told what the sedative was which is info we needed if we were to get him care. I have never experienced such cold hearted lack of bedside manner, verbal abuse, and unprofessional behavior from a veterinarian before. He should not be allowed to be around animals. Do not take your pets to this hospital."
"Over 1.5 years, friendly staff, my dog had 2 deep teeth cleanings. It's expensive but that might just be Massachusetts, we moved from the southeast and it was cheaper there, so I'm not sure. We have always received good care"
"Everyone treats me and my dog great here. My dog gets excellent care and they go above and beyond whenever I bring up any issues my dog is having. Prices are very reasonable."
"I trust Dr Broady to care for my pets in a humane and practical manner. He is sensitive to clients' financial limitations while still providing safe and reliable care. His practice keeps excellent records, which also makes me feel confident in Shelburne Falls Veterinary Hospital."
