"We finished our Christmas-themed Tuesday afternoon bar crawl at McGillin's Olde Ale House in downtown Philadelphia. This place was my favorite, based solely on the holiday drink prices and selection! And the decorations were first class. My daughter loved the gin-based "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and I was blown away by the "Santa's Slipper" Old Fashion crafted with maple simple sugar. Each of these cocktails was only $10.00!! Many cheers to McGillin's Olde Ale House, its staff, and Christmas in Philadelphia! Happy holidays to all."
"This is the type of place you immediately feel like everyone is your friend, and you want to buy everyone a round. They have amazing specials for pretty much every holiday/sports game/event. It’s the perfect mix of a rowdy college/sports bar, great food and drinks, and history. It’s a must go in the city."
"FUN. This place breathes the energy and character in Philly. From the moment you turn onto the narrow side street, it’s apparent you’re going to enjoy yourself. I’m in town on business and was intrigued by a proper pub. Stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. Everyone knows Tammy, which was a good indicator who the regulars are and that they come back for a good reason. I ordered a house lager on draft & a shepherds pie (without even looking at the rest of the menu), listened to the camaraderie, and appreciated the history living inside the joint. Dating back to the mid 1800s, dawning every college pennant you could imagine, and FILLED with Christmas spirit… like I said, it was fun. Food and beer were great and I got outta there for $20. Overall a great find in downtown."
"Absolutely packed but full of charming. We watched part of game 7 with a lot of Philly fans. We will have to return to get a better idea of the food and beverages as it was impossible to get to the bar! But still was so much fun."
