Reviews
"I think this company's products are some of the best available. They are not only superior in performance but they also use all natural ingredients so it doesn't poison everything it touches."
"Tried out the dry canvas waterproof rub-on bar and it works great. Application was easy and relatively quick, although I had to use a bit more wax than I initially expected. I used up about 10% of the bar on a hat and will definitely be doing my work jacket as well."
"I have not tried the beeswax based waterproofer, but Hawk Tools makes a fantastic Fabric Weatherproofing bar that keeps my motorcycle jacket dry. It blocks torrential downpours on the highway like nothing I have ever experienced. Regular DWR coatings are great at beading water, but not blocking it out… Their website has handy articles about testing waterproof fabric, check them out before you make a purchase. You will appreciate the fantastic customer service. Richard asked me to leave a review as thanks for the fantastic tips and support."
"Warning: beeswax waterproofing is not possible, the best you can get is certain degree of water resistance, which is similar and, in my opinion, less effective than DWR. Before you buy this kind of products, make sure you do your research and watch some YouTube videos which explain in detail that you can never achieve waterproofing even after very laborious and lengthy application. Also, it will change the color, feel, and softness of the fabrics you put it on, making them more like an oilcloth. The so-called traditional beeswax waterproofing has sort of cult following, feverishly believing it can achieve same quality as Gore-Tex or helly hansen fabrics, probably due to the lure of all natural and environmentally friendly claims, which was the very reason why I found this company. I bought their rub-on waterproofer bar because of very positive customer reviews on their own website and Esty. I bought the waterproof bar for fabric and use it per their instructions on my Patagonia pants, I applied very thick layer using hair dryer and test it on a small area by spray a little water on it. It failed completely, the water penetrates the fabric within seconds, and I can feel the water even on the inside of the pants. It also very hard to get rid of because it is made of beeswax basically. I have to use very hot water and soap to wash it off and it still leaves dark stain on my pants. Their website claims 30 day money back guarantee for any reason, and even claim it stands behind its products for a year, what a joke! when I contacted them to return the product with pics as proof, they told me I failed to follow the instructions and refused my request. They insisted that I should apply the entire bar to cover the pants to see the result. How dumb the argument is? If applying it to a small area properly does not work, how come entire pants will work? What logic is that? Now looking back, I realize that it's foolish to think you can achieve waterproofing by applying $20 dollar beeswax bar, otherwise why outwear companies spend a fortune on R&D to developer all kinds of waterproof tech? Bottom line, Stay Away! Updates: After seeing this review, they refunded my money."
