"At long last I got a res at the famed sister restaurant to Via carota, and boy oh boy is this the moody west village restaurant of your date night dreams. There’s something about the single row of tables, coupled with a gaggle of characters including investment bankers, young couples, old couples, new friends, old friends. The lasagna here is absolutely to die for, almost like a savory cake with sauce and decadent beefy flavor instead of a slice of sugar flour and frosting. Artichoke appetizer not to be missed. pork chop is a stunner. Go here to see and be seen."
"The lasagna is mouth wateringly good. I dream about this lasagna. For drinks, you can’t go wrong with one of their special Negronis. If you like earthy cocktails, definitely try the Terra! The only issue is trying to snag a table, but if you can get there early and put your name down (and you’re willing to wait) you can likely score seats at the bar. The new space offers so many more seats than the original location and still manages to keep the cozy atmosphere."
"Very small little place for Italian flair. Went in as a group of 4 for an early dinner. Nice service, a bit slow on everything I guess from the short of hands. Appeitizers: Bread, olive oil, and olives: You pay for the bread, and it is a 4-5 inch diameter bread, to my taste, without proper proofing. The texture is a bit dense without lots of air bubbles/honeycomb texture that I am used to get from an European styled bread. Wouldn't order again if I have a choice. The unpitted olives were quiet nice. Carciofi Fritti, fried artichoke hearts. Crispy and warm and seasoned correctly. The seasoning is umani, not overly salty. Almost felt like eating crispy brussel sprouts but with artichokes. It is a bit oily but quiet addiciting with the texture. Bresaola e Stracciatella, aged waguy beef in prosciutto style paired with creamy stracciatell cheese, a cheese that is typically filled in burrata. Very very good. The beef is drizzled with balsamic vinegar/reduction and the stracciatella is drizzled with olive oil. Entrees: Maltagliati con Coda di Blue, tonight’s one of the three special pastas with oxtail sauce and whole wheat sheet pasta. The sauce is thick and a bit on the saltier side and umani with the mushroom. You can taste the grain texture on the sheet pasta, which hangs onto the sauce pretty good. Nice try but not impressed. Lasagna Sugo, the meat sauce lasagna that everyone talks about. 24 layers of sauce, ricotta make up to this tower of creamy and tomatoy creation. I refer to this as the “Lady M of Lasagna” for its multi-layering and melt in the mouth texture. There is an extra thick layer of meat sauce on the top and the lasagna tend to tip over if you don't cut it right (like a unbalanced crepe cake almost). HOWEVER, do consume it while it is warm. After sitting on the table for 10 minutes, the lasagna turned cold and meat sauce coagulated a bit, then it was less enjoyable. Pappadelle Al Limone, the interesting one. The pasta was more “al dente” then “al denta”. It is chewy, which to my friend was a blessing but not to me. The sauce is impressive: very lemony and sharp with pepper. Dessert: Tiramisu, not the my favorite type of tiramisu. The mascapone is dense, and it is a cheesecake style tiramisu. I am more used to tiramisus made with mascarpone whipped with more cream to give a much more smooth texture. Not sweet (good) and not very alcoholic (not good). Semifreddo, a frozen hazelnut mousse, but please consider it a hazelnut ice cream. It is topped with salty-sweet toffeed hazelnut bits and it is a blessing. It is not an airy mousse but a more gelato-ish dessert, and it melted very slowly. All four of us liked it. After eating this, tiramisu got no taste almost in comparison (because it is way sweeter). Generally a good date spot, the line was long when we dined. If you wanna a spot, better take your chances to come early for a bar seat or make reservations."
"Ambiance is relaxed but classy. Skip the fried artichoke app. The burrata was fine but nothing special. The drinks were great. The papardelle limone was wonderful. The artichoke lasagna was good but nothing to write home about. We got the flourless chocolate tarte with ice cream because of previous reviews and it was good and hit the spot. I very much prefer via carota but would come back to try other dishes!"
"Overall it was a good experience. I ordered the lasagna which was a good lasagna don't get me wrong, but it lacked a like "wow" factor to me. It was simply just a good lasagna if that helps. However the staff were great and everyone was very nice. They were all very nice and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The drinks were top tier though, I got the negroni classic and I loved it. I would have posted a photo of that here but I drank it before I thought of taking out my camera. Five stars on that."
