"Do not go here unless you’re fully aware that something is amiss in their process. I’ve been natural since 2019. I finally had my natural hair exactly where I wanted it in terms of curl, length and hydration. I needed an emergency blow out because my usual hairdresser had a funeral that she had to cancel on me for. I went there not knowing that some stores put relaxer in their stuff. I wasn’t aware of this until after I went and started telling people how in awe I was that my hair hadn’t start reverting after 2ish weeks like it usually did with a blow dry. I went to wash my hair and it was a mess. All my curls are destroyed, my hair is falling out at a rapid rate. My hair has this weird gray tint now that no level of oil, deep conditioning, or protein treatments has been able to fix. My hair is this weird crunchy texture that I’ve never had since my curls are usually silky. My hair has this weird odor that isn’t leaving even though I’ve washed my hair multiple times and even put a bunch of smell goods in it. I’m trying not to break down because ‘it’s just hair’ but the fact that they do this without telling you is scary. This seems illegal. I don’t know how they’re able to do this and stay open."
"The best Dominican style salon in the area. Friendly staff and reasonable prices! The offer a variety of services to both men and women. Anny the owner is the sweetest! I have been coming here since 2009 when they first opened. I’m happy to say “I’m so glad they’re still around”!"
"After about 5 years of being a natural I’m having to cut my hair because they chemically straightened my hair. They are mixing something into their shampoo or conditioner. A week or two after my last visit I decided to do an oil treatment before washing my hair and minutes after applying it I noticed a rotten/chemical smell similar to that of a relaxer. I immediately went to wash my hair and my hair was falling out in clumps and I could immediately tell the difference in my hair from what was chemically treated vs new growth. Use your own discretion if you are natural or care about the state of your hair if you are going to patronize this business."
"Hello Goggle Family. I was skeptical at first about visiting this salon. I have been patronizing another salon, however I knew it was time for a change. I talked to a sister friend, Jina, and asked where does she get her hair done, since it always looks so nice. She informed me that it was the New Styles Dominican Beauty Salon on Baltimore Pike. While I knew where it was located, I still had doubts about going. Doubts because I didn't know how much the different services were and about the parking. I decided to visit on a Friday and I knew my timing was way overdue. My last visit at a salon was in December and I have been caring for my own hair and maintaining it. I needed another color and I just knew it was time for a salon visit. I goggled the salon and followed the directions to the salon, even though I already knew where it was located. Lo and beyond it is adjacent to the train station. The parking is so convenient, on the side street where you make a turn on Glenwood Avenue. I was there around 9:30 Am on a Friday morning and I could not believe it. There was only one person there. I knew it would be crowded and I would be waiting all day. I went in and was serviced immediately. Now that's service. I told them what I wanted and I showed the color, Clairol Professional Beautiful Collection. I wanted my color mixed, Burgundy Brown and Light Golden Chestnut. Both Advanced Gray Solution. The lady that attended to my hair was very good. I could see that she cared about my hair and it looking good. The young lady that shampooed my hair 4 times was great as well. A 4 times shampoo, in all the times I was been getting my hair done and all the years, no one has ever taken the time to shampoo it four times. My hair felt ever so clean and the shampoo smells so refreshing. I was put under the dryer after the first lady applied my two colors mixed. Not under the dryer that long and then my hair was shampooed again. This was four times. Then I sat in the other lady's chair and she wrapped and styled my hair. My hair looks nice and the mixed colors are beautiful! Anny, the owner, is very professional and nice. The lady that styled my hair, told me about a hair product that they sell. But they were out of it, it costs $30.00 and I asked why so much and Anny explained that it comes from the Dominician Republic. I gave Anny my business card. She said she will call me when they receive more product. I really enjoyed my visit here, the staff they really care about your hair. The price is way so reasonable, only $55.00 for a wash, blow dry and color. I thought I would fall over when I heard the price. I have never paid $55.00 for my hair. When I was a teen, that is the last time I heard those prices. It is always $100 and over for the same service that I had today. Unbelievable!! The people that robbed me and other people they service. I will be coming here from now on. Thank you Jina for saving me a lot of MONEY AND TIME!!!!"
"Great hair salon! Love taking my girls there. Great customer service. They are very busy and the best time to get there is before the weekend start. The parking is on the side street. The place is clean and they use genuine hair care product. They take credit card payment but they says Cash only payment on the weekend. Also their staff is bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish."
