"My son was born 19 years ago. After losing his twin in my second month of pregnancy, confirmed by an ultrasound, I continued testing high for glucose in my urine time after time. I was never given another ultrasound, even though I repeatedly asked for one. They stated they were short of help and couldn't manage it. I finally got my ultrasound when he was one week overdue. The technician walked out of the room to get the doctor, leaving us to ponder. The doctor informed us that there was hardly any amniotic fluid left and I would need to be induced immediately. I gained close to 70 pounds and he was born at 11 1/2 pounds after an emergency cesarean section because they never treated my gestational diabetes. My son, when born, was basically going through withdrawal. Everyone in that practice dropped the ball. That was our first birthing experience and it was traumatic and filled will tears of fear. I had a daughter two years later under the care of a different OBGYN, again I had gestational diabetes but because it was treated I only gained 23 pounds and she was perfectly healthily and of average size. CAUTION! It's too big a sacrifice. Don't take the chance."
