"This company is terrible for contractors. If you are a contractor please beware of this company! This company will pay out bad claims that are made against you and when you try to talk to someone that knows anything - it’s damn near impossible. Payment has been out of my bank account for over 6 weeks and the Hartford still hasn’t processed the payment , which I’ve mentioned is important and time sensitive. I am warning all contractors against this bond. You will be screwed if you go this route."
"Had a terrible time trying to work with them, very unresponsive and very unclear communication on their part. Spent a month and half trying to get medical appointments approved just to find out the claim was denied entirely and they allegedly told us over the phone (they didn’t). It is extremely difficult to get on the same page with them, especially if you’re not familiar with this sort of process, so be prepared to do the job of the claim adjuster! Good luck."
"This is the worst company ever. I think I spent more time on the phone with them than with my baby for my FMLA and PFL. My analyst was Brooke Adams, I requested a new analyst so many times. I had late payments, claims that were never extended. I could go on and on. I feel bad for anyone that has to deal with this company. It’ll suck when I have to use them again for my second child. It’s funny because when you read the reviews, they are all just as bad. You would think the company would do something to improve, but instead they just comment and tell you to call their phone number. Their phone system is a disaster and not easy to use in the first place. And what would they do? Say sorry? I have heard that so many times."
"I recently received documents to renew my auto insurance. I noted that my insurance increased by 60%. I called to ask why. I was told that it was because of my mileage, and I drive over 12,000 miles per year. Which I was told they obtain information from a number of consumers. I explained I am retired, and I only drive to local businesses, doctor's offices and stores close to my home. I was told I would need to prove I drive less than 12,000 miles a year. I took a picture of my odometer and as a courtesy to me my credit union checked Carfax per my vin number and told me the last year that I had service at the dealership was in 2020. My mileage was 120,541. My odometer reading is 131,807 as of 11/28/2023. I sent the information to Hartford Auto Insurance. I was now told that I needed to send in a report from the dealership in which I provided the name of the dealership to Hartford. I was also told that the information they have is 12,000 miles per year. I said I know you all have the means to look up the information based on what I provided to you, and I told them I am not stupid. Then I was told they use an average based on the year that you purchase your vehicle. I would essentially have to look at the mileage and calculate the average. So, Hartford Auto Insur., is estimating and not really going by your actual mileage. That is unfair just so they can raise an individual's insurance rate. I want to say when I calculated my mileage for 4 years it was less than 5,000 per year. I can't change what was put in the system by Carfax and nor can I change what my odometer reads. Let me say this as well. It is not right to use this as an excuse to put individuals in a higher insurance bracket. I want all consumers to be aware of this latest ploy by Hartford Auto Insurance to raise auto insurance rates for all individuals. It is not fair."
"Several years ago this company has shown that they cannot be trusted. Homeowners policies were suddenly cancelled in an entire region because they had to service a large number of claims from an unusual storm. That's why insurance companies exist isn't it? To help people recover from unusual incidents. The Hartford has been around for a long time and is now living on a reputation that they no longer deserve. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company."
