Reviews
"First, reviews older than a year are likely of Windham Eye Group, which was sold to Solinsky EyeCare last year. I had my first visit with new owners/location and found the front desk staff to be pleasant and efficient. I had a 15-20 minute wait (sadly, the usual at medical practices these days. Minus half a point). There were only a few people in the waiting area. The technician who did the initial screening/testing was friendly and took time to answer questions. She did ask if I had hearing issues and did I want a hearing evaluation? This has happened before in other offices and it always seems like the concern is for the bottom line (hearing aids must bring in the big dollars) rather than my health. I declined. Minus a half point for that. Dr. Woods was efficient and thorough. (if you want a doctor to chat with, he's not the one. Find a friend elsewhere). I was in the office for a total of an hour and a half (arriving 10 minutes early) and was satisfied with the staff attitudes and care received."
"Don't go here. Place is always packed. My eye doctor ms. Capstick very nice lady left and nobody ever told me till I called to confirm my appointment which cause she left I couldn't go to. No letter came in mail or did I ever get any phone call prior. The nurse for dr. woods was mean with my mother in which a social worker that brought her observed. Social worker had the same issue when bringing another client. They tried to bill my mother twice when she had insurance. The machines they use are very confusing. They take you to like 4 different areas to do different tests. They gave my mother wrong bifocal prescription cause my mother didn't understand the eye machines. She had to go twice. My mother doesn't have best insurance and since they messed up, her insurance wouldn't cover it for at least another year for a better prescription bifocal. They wanted to charge my mother for glasses that were unbranded for 400+ bucks. I ended up getting her nice glasses that were a name brand for way way cheaper and better quality. I now go to a new eye doctor and I don't ever want to go back to Windham Eye Group again."
"My child was sent in April if 2022 and no covid screens were done nor covid question aire prior to appointment. Once we got called in back the lady who took us back (no sure of her title, probably some type of assistant) asked if we were vaccinated. We had masks on except for my 4 month old. I asked why she asked. She said for her protection. Then she would not allow me in the room with my 8, years old daughter but I had to stand in the door way. I worked as a health care worker and we seen all types of people. ITS OUR JOB. After about two different eye exams or test she then asked my daughter to if she could check her temp. Maybe this lady is in the wrong career field. Next time I'll make sure I see her hepatitis free labs in order to care for child. You know for our protection. Lesson learned is to lie about whether I'm vaccinated so Im not treated differently."
"Ever since my first visit at this place I had misgivings. While the Dr.s seem to change frequently and seem nice enough, the office staff are rude and unprofessional. On my first visit nearly 3 years ago, I made a return appt. for the next year and I asked if they leave a phone reminder before the visit. The receptionist snapped at me, saying, "no, we don't have enough people here to do that - we just expect adults to know when they have an appointment." Wow, very dismissive. They optometrist gave me glasses that did not fit properly and when I came back to have them adjusted he said that I was wearing them wrong and shoved them really tightly up so close to my eyes I could barely shut them. He said that was the way they were supposed to be. Fast forward to my most recent visit and I was again poorly treated by the optometrist. When I went in to get fitted for glasses he told me to sit at the desk where another person had just been (mind you, only one person at a time is allowed in due to Covid). I told him that I would rather sit at the other desk because he didn't wipe down the surfaces (something the eye Dr. ALWAYS does). He rolled his eyes and rudely told me to sit where-ever I wanted. When I sat down to get measured and gave him the frames I wanted, he took my prescription and compared it to the last one and said, "we're all set, not much change" barely measuring. I asked if he could write the measurements down so that I could order a spare pair on-line because it would be about $200. cheaper. He refused, saying that the measurements would be "off". I left. Two weeks later I got my new glasses and, once again, they do not fit! Not only do they not fit but my vision is blurred and I have to move my head around to get a clear spot. When I called to get an appt. they gave the call to the technician who acted annoyed, and gave me an appt 3 weeks away. I told her that I cannot wait three weeks to see properly she said, "well, I'm not a miracle worker, that's all we have." She then told me that it takes a while for the eyes to get used to the new glasses and that I should see the optician to make sure they fit well. I told her they do not fit well but I know he will insist that they are fine and blame me for not wearing them correctly. She then fretted a bit while looking at the schedule and offered a closer appt. in 2 weeks. I agree with another reviewer that most of the eye exam is done by the technicians quickly but clearly not accurately. The office is antiquated or maybe just cheap - not set up to allow people to pay the bill in the office or on-line - they send the bill via snail mail and you have to send payment back. Time to find another eye doc."
"Waiting room was about 35 degrees due to keeping doors open and fans in the windows full blast. I understand was due to covid, and if this was the only issue I would not have complained... Technician was very rushed and unprofessional. They have the tech do nearly the whole exam, and testing for eyeglass prescription, not the doctor. The machine she put in front of my eyes the left lens was smudged. She impatiently asked me "1 or 2, 1 or 2?" I went along because I thought surely the real eye test will be done by the doctor. Then she says she's going to put drops in my eyes. She has long unkempt-looking fake nails, and did not wear gloves to put the drops in my eyes. She was rushed and distracted during the whole exam... another long wait in another cold waiting room, and Dr. Woods called me back. He was all over the place, constantly looking out of the door to the room for who knows what. Very jumpy and seemed anxious. He looked in my eyes quickly, then gave me a diagnosis, said he doesn't have a handout but he wrote the diagnosis name down, and was about to send me on my way. I don't speak up very easily, but I was beyond astonished so I had to. I asked, you're not going to do the prescription for my eyeglasses?" He said that was already done. The technician did that. I explained to him how rushed and unprofessional she was, and he said, and I quote, "you're prescription hasn't changed, wha. t do you want?" I couldn't believe my ears. I walked to the front desk where he directed me to go. No one was there so I went around the corner to another area that was unmarked and aparently that was the checkout desk. She started to automatically make me an appointment for 1 year and I said "no thank you, I will go somewhere else." She said "oh ok, have a nice day" and was about to shut the window. I asked "do I get my prescription so I can get glasses?" She handed it to me and I left."
