"Do not stay here. They pretend to be a nice hotel but it's really awful. There is no front desk, no bellmen. There are literally zero amenities to this place. The WiFi was trash my 5g was faster, we had broken furniture in our room. The back two legs of the couch were broken so it was tilted back. We booked a suite so there was a sitting area but it was useless. There was a giant stain on the hallway carpet right outside the room. The door lock looked damaged/parted open. The door had to be forced closed. The bed itself was clean thankfully. The bathroom had no makeup mirror and some of the worst lighting I have ever experienced in a hotel room. In the bathroom there were towels, that's it, no wash clothes/hand towels. I had to track some down on my first morning there and it took about an hour. They do have a coffee bar that turns into a regular bar but that's about it. The elevator took forever. Just nothing about this experience was comfortable. We actually left the property early because it was uncomfortable. I tried to discuss my experience with them both in person and online and they don't care. The person I spoke with on the phone was rude and condescending. They have our money but they will never get another cent. Hopefully this review points you elsewhere cause this place is fake nice."
"Not a hotel review but a review of the grounds by a guy who used to live nearby and really enjoyed grabbing a coffee and being on some grass in a nice quiet spot. It’s a good place to wile away some spring weekend hours and if you can squeeze your way into the hotel a bit there are some fantastic old seminary halls and rooms to explore"
"Charming hotel in a former monastery. Don’t expect super fancy. They didn’t completely gut renovate it, so you still have some of the charm of the original rooms. The lobby is really just a coffee shop and the check in process is a little awkward at the kiosk, you’re kind of in the way all the time. But I prefer this so much more to the alternative."
"I cannot say I'd rate this as a 4 star hotel as it's advertised. Sure, it is charming, but it's also very old (not in a good way) and basic conveniences are missing in the room. The toiletries are from a good brand but there are no cotton swabs in the bathroom. There is no bottled water, no coffee or tea, not even a kettle. Sure, there is a fancy coffee bar downstairs that's open till 5pm but I think customers expect these basic things, in the room, from even lower rated hotels. The sound isolation is non existent, bring ear plugs! The mattress is comfy (and you can buy it at a discount, as your key card holder and an ad in the room will tell you). The furniture is definitely period but it has seen better days, it's beat up and tired. The rug has holes in it. There's no central light so the room stays dark and is unable to be adequately lit with small lamps. The curtains look faded and even though they are dark and heavy, the big gaps let the morning light into the room. You can see cracks in the walls and remnants of a water leak in the ceiling. The windows are terribly dirty. At least the linens and towels are nice and clean. If you want to stay in a hotel with a character, this will do it. If you want to stay at a hotel with amenities, book elsewhere!"
"Just had a nice weekend at the High Line. The area is great and is far more quiet than many other parts of the city. The building and common areas are very cool, including a really nice patio and coffee bar. Front desk staff were all very nice. The room was fine if small even by NYC standards. However, given the price point ($600/night), there seemed to be a disconnect between the room amenities and the price. No washcloths in the room or available at all, no bottled water, inability to control heat/air conditioning, etc. These things don't cost a ton but create an experience that fits with the brand."
