Southwind Apartments

"My review will not be based on the apartments itself because overall when viewing this specific apartment complex, I found it very pleasing and the amenities to be what I dreamed my first apartment would have. However, the reasoning for me not moving forward with them was the micro-aggression I faced when I was ready to start the processing for the apartment. The leasing agent was very informative during the viewing; and one thing that really stuck out to me that she said was and I quote "she would rather pay top dollars to not have to duck and dodge bullets everyday." Not only that but I would need a grantor who makes 6 figures a month with a credit score over 700. As far as I am concerned crime happens everywhere, and guns are way more accessible now than ever. What difference does it make whether I am in Wallingford or if I considered staying where I am now. For a leasing agent who works in such a professional atmosphere and her job is to appease to the client it almost felt as though she created so many boundaries and limits for me that I felt helpless. My parents who came with me was very disappointed in the way the leasing agent responded when it was time for processing. And no it is not about the price of the apartment itself because I could pay it with one check simple; but the lack awareness and professionalism is what really took the cake. If I could give one advice for this apartment complex is, never judge a book by its cover."

"If I could leave 0 stars I would. There are many places to live around or near Wallingford for either cheaper or even equal to with better living condition and newer and more amenities that are actually worth your money. They were looking to charge me from $1555 to $1875 and told me that in a year rent it would increase to $1975 for an apartment that hasn't been renovated in 20+ years, carpets, old cabinets, appliances, NOT EVEN LAUDRY IN UNIT, (have to pay for the laundry in the community room as well) old shower, old windows that need to be replaced from mold, wall air conditioner that has not been replaced or touched since the early 2000's or even earlier. Over a 20% increase for NOTHING NEW. There's a reason they are not charging deposits for new tenants now. They are desperate. As you can see on their website over 21 apartments are for rent in just 2 months and I am sure it will continue to grow. Old tenants decided to leave because of the outrages rent increase and terrible living conditions and awful property management. Unfortunately, I talked to a few tenants that decided to stay because they had no where to go and it would be too hard for them to move based on age and resources they had to them. Since new management took over and it is an absolute joke. Took more than half of my security deposit for "cleaning" $800 + everything was wiped down as best as could be. And on top of this, they have/had renovations planned prior to me moving out and gutted my entire apartment. Hard to completely deep clean an apartment that has been lived in for over 20 years without any renovations done through multiple tenants. Things get worn down and harder and harder to deem "perfect". Probably taking security from the past 21 tenants who moved out to "make upgrades" to different apartments that really are not that spectacular for the price they are asking. My advice is to find a different place and don't waste your time or money, many other places to live around or near the area that are upgraded! I never want anyone to experience this."

"I’ve been here a month and so far, so good. I relocated from another state, had no idea about this area, and had fallen behind on a couple steps but Laurie helped me get back in track and was amazing to work with! My back patio is not facing the highway, so I don’t hear anything from the outside. There is always ample parking and no issues with my car. It is not a soundproof apartment (not sure if any are), but come quiet hours, I don’t hear much of anything. Small gym which is better than nothing at all, but there are a couple gyms around. I haven’t met my neighbors, which is kinda how I prefer it. Plenty of closet space, heats up fast, stainless steel appliances, it is pretty spacious. They layout makes it easy to create ways for storage. I had just received my electric bill, and it is the cheapest I have ever paid in my 8 years of paying bills. The payment for Wallingford Electric is a little outdated because they don't have a way to do it electronically yet, but for such a low price, I'll take it with no complaints! I’ll update my review at the 6 month mark if things have changed. Hope this helps others looking in the area ☺️ 5 starts for the ease of securing an apartment with such little time, cleanliness of the facility, location to stores, I feel safe, and the unit itself ESPECIALLY compared to the 7 other apartments I had checked out. This one really was the best of all of them within my price range."

"Lived there a while back. If you love the highway in your back yard, this complex is for you. Manager was abrasive and rude, but it was the constant noise from I 91 that I hated."

"Nice place to live grounds and common areas always clean and presentable. Neighborhood is quite (excluding the highway 200 yards way). Plenty parking and they allow one cat sorry no dogs."
