"Four of us had lunch at Midori for our first visit. The kind lady, who is the owner and chef took very good care of us. We enjoyed the Bimbop, Tteokbokki, Kimchi, steamed pork Gyoza, Miso Soup, Bibim Bap, Seafood Soondubu and Chicken Bulgogi. She brought me fish sauce on request and the pickled sweet pepper was a complimentary dish! The interior is nothing fancy. Looks like there is outdoor seating. It is BYOB. The main thing is the food is very good and the owner is very nice. Do not expect the trappings of a fancy restaurant or super fast service. This is more like being invited into a wonderful Korean cook's home. We will go back!"
"Very nice restaurant with home-style cooking. The atmosphere is cozy with a small radio in the corner and what I imagine is the owner serving and cooking. She was very kind, offering many little extra sides and was very fun to chat with. It had all the good experiences I think of when it comes to Korean cooking. The dishes were all very good. Nothing too fancy, but good pricing, quantity, and taste.."

"I love Korean food. I REALLY love Korean food. And I keep waiting for Korean food to have it’s Moment. You know, the kind of moment that turns into me being able to get legit, delicious, actual Korean food somewhere other than NYC. So, I was going to be driving down through Connecticut on an all day/night round trip from Central Vermont to JFK and back. Obviously, I needed to eat, but I also wanted a really good meal. Spoiler Alert: I ALWAYS want a really good meal. So I took to Yelp to check out my options. I was looking for Korean. Midori was listed as a Korean and Japanese restaurant with a pretty extensive Korean menu and, judging from my perusal of some of the more recent views there, the restaurant changed ownership in the past year. The current Midori does not serve sushi, but does have Korean and Japanese dishes. If you are vegetarian or vegan you are, unfortunately, out of luck here. I don’t eat beef, pork or poultry, so it was a little challenging for me. Also because it was HOT HOT outside and I couldn’t face eating a soup/noodle dish or Soondubu (which I LOVE in colder weather…) But I was still able to find multiple dishes to try. In fact, I was served so much food I could not finish it. Which is SAYING SOMETHING for me!! First, may I say, Midori is PRECISELY the kind of place I want to support. It appears to be entirely run by one woman who is doing everything right in front of you. As in the limited kitchen is right behind the counter. The entire space is just a storefront in a little strip mall. I LOVE to see someone hustling and working to own their own spot and do everything from scratch. When I got to Midori, late afternoon on a Tuesday in July, I was the only customer. And despite the fact that the (presumed) owner was my waitress and cook, service was spot on. This isn’t fine dining folks. So take those pretensions elsewhere. There is no alcohol. You don’t come here for drinks. There also is no Banchan, despite some misleading pics and comments online. You can get two little, plastic cups with kimchi and pickles in place of Banchan. But I’m still not willing to deduct any points because I codlin’t have eaten Banchan even if she’d served me some. I ordered 4 things: Tteokbokki appetizer (rice cake with noodles, fish cake and vegetables in spicy broth); Kimchi Kimbap (fish sausage, stir fried kimchi, Korean pickled radishes); side of Kimchi; and Gyoza Salad (fried Gyoza tossed with green salad and delicious dressing). Full Disclosure: I’ve eaten A LOT of Korean food in my life, but I’d never eaten Tteokbokki and only once had I eaten Kimbap (which, if you know, is sort of like a Futomaki, but very Korean and different flavor profile - i.e., HIGHLY sesame rice when done authentically). The Tteokbokki arrived first and was HUGE. Like a full dinner sized plate full of The Most Delicious food and sauce. It was so freaking big I referred back to my menu because I figured it couldn’t actually be an appetizer. LOL It was DELICIOUS. On every level. Different, delightful textures and mouthfeel, fabulous and spicy sauce. I tried to pace myself. But I’d already eaten the entire container of Kimchi (served in a plastic, half pint “to go” container - check your pretensions at the door!), even though I tried not to… Since my first Kimbap ever was very meh, I was reluctant to order it. Also Kimbap is BIG. You get ONE Kimbap. (Not like Japanese sushi rolls where you order a bunch.) But I was super curious about “fish sausage” and I LOVE pickled radishes. I was NOT disappointed. That Kimbap was FANTASTIC. The owner/chef told me I should dip it in my Tteokbokki sauce and she’d given me extra sauce. GOOD TIP!! Although You don’t need to dip her Kimbap in anything. You can just eat it piece by delicious piece and savor the flavors of each one. SO GOOD. The Gyoza Salad is, frankly, pretty genius: a mixed salad with very tasty sesame type dressing tossed with fried Gyoza. I LOVED my meal at Midori. I LOVE to see a woman owning and running her own place and serving up food and knowledge."
