"I booked a room for an overnight stay and was very disappointed, not only by the room but also by the response of the hotel to the problem. Right off the bat, I was surprised by all the "fees," in addition to the advertised cost of the room, that weren't mentioned until they were applied to my bill. Then, the room itself was clean, but pretty basic. Worse, it faced the busy street and was incredibly noisy, between the noise of passing cars, the voices of passing people, and the noises audible from the rooms behind and above it, making sleep almost impossible - and I'm not a light sleeper. The people in the adjoining rooms were not being loud - just ordinary levels of noise - but their voices and footsteps were clearly and constantly audible - and even the shower made a screeching noise. Because the room was on the ground floor and fronted directly on the street, the "village view" designation was pointless, as not only was there no view, but heavy blackout shades were required to keep passers-by from looking in, and the light from the streetlamps out. When I mentioned the noise issue during checkout, the person at the desk said she would pass my comments on, but she couldn't have been less interested. The breakfast buffet was pleasant, and the croissants were nice, but it was impossible to avoid the TV playing Fox News. Overall, very disappointing. Added - the form-letter response didn't help, either... it just made their indifference palpable. They didn't fail to "exceed" my expectations... they failed to even meet them. There are other hotels in the area and I won't be staying at Danford's ever again."
"Best possible location on the port. The service and offerings are very well curated and the staff is helpful and cordial. The vibe of the place is relaxed yet sophisticated and gives an inviting and warm feel like a cottage by the sea. The eooms are also well stocked and clean. Furniture and appointments are a bit dated but still charming: I chalk it up to the age of the property. But all in very good order being directly on the water. I was charmed and can't wait to visit again."
"I can not lie that the location is amazingly decorated and staff is very friendly... at first. Their policies and ability to work with clients is unreasonable. Managerial staff was unhelpful in accommodating due to an unforeseeable event. They are unsympathetic when you need to change/cancel arrangements made more than a year in advance. When discussing the matter, they became very rude. I would NOT RECOMMEND this location for anyone planning an important life event."
"Had lunch at Ferryman's Grille. If you have a GREAT Deal of time then go. Wait staff was over taxed with duties. It took 15 minutes to get water and order a beverage. I missed the first clue when I called and was on hold for 11 minutes. Kitchen staff has no sense of timing courses. For the first time in over 45 years of dining out, my appetizer was served at the same time as the Entrée. So now my meal could cool off while I ate my first course. Food was acceptable but not worth the 30% over cost of other normal Restaurants. Next time I could enjoy a dinner on land locked establishment, and save the money for dessert or drinks. NOT A PLACE that I would go out of my way to eat at again. I have no issue paying for good food or service, this was NO WHERE NEAR the Reputation of Danfords. Real shame."
