"Upon arriving, met a nice young man at the front desk. He was very accommodating and showed us to our room. It was a Castle Fireplace Suite on the top floor of the tower. The room was dated, but it’s a castle so it shouldn’t look modern, right? Noticed tiny dead bugs on all the windowsills in the living area. The heating system worked great. The fireplace was actually replaced with an electric insert. That was a big disappointment. The bathroom was modernized and clean. The tub had no water pressure at all, but the shower worked fine. The bedroom was a separate room. The bed linens were plush and comfortable. We knew beforehand that the restaurant was closed. Not sure if it is under refurbishment, but when googled, it says permanently closed. There were no lounges open either. The free continental breakfast was typical and the staff was very helpful. I booked the room at good discounted rate so it was fine. Staying in a castle was cool, but I would only return if the restaurant and lounge reopens."
"We had a lovely stay here at the castle. It's a very unique and elegant venue. Quiet and peaceful to relax. Front desk staff were super nice and went above and beyond. I'm a Marriott person so I usually don't book boutique hotels but I'm really glad I did."
"It was alright, but honestly, I wouldn't tell my buddies to check it out. The staff was cool, no doubt, but for the cash we dropped, it didn't feel as fancy as they claim. The room was kinda meh – not too clean, and the ancient TV and busted speakers didn't help. And breakfast? Yeah, that was a letdown. It's a shame 'cause the place looks cool, but at least it was chill and had a decent view."
"This place was absolutely amazing, we did have some issues with our reservations at first but they squared everything away. They gave us a tour of the whole castle and even took us to the top of it, we had a great view and we could see New York City off in the distance. The front staff was great, other than one guy, apparently his phone call was more important than helping someone. Their breakfast was simple, oatmeal, fruit and juice. We went during a time when there was no one in the hotel and it was great. I'd definitely stay there again."
"My daughter’s wedding was held there in October, and it was a nightmare. We booked with them a year prior to the wedding and at the date of the wedding the hotel was on its third management. 1. Our block of rooms was given away numerous times. At one point, they said that all our rooms were booked by our guests, and they were not. 2. When I tried to call various times to book my room, I got a recording that no one was at the front desk, and it was after hours. Didn’t know that after hours started at 2:30 in the afternoon. 3. My daughter’s suite had issues with the air conditioning, so the room was at a constant 78 degrees for the two days that we were there. They offered on the day of the wedding to bring in a window unit, but this was offered 2 hours before the ceremony when people were getting ready, and photos were being taken. We had to settle for one fan. 4. It was an outdoor ceremony and an hour before the ceremony there were no chairs set up. 5. One person was told that they could give her frozen peas and carrots for a vegetarian meal as the wait staff was not told that there were some special plates ordered. 6. The reception hall also had issues with the air conditioning. People were standing in front of the window unit to cool off. I could go on, but you got the idea. I have gotten better service at a Holiday Inn than this so-called high -end hotel. Do yourself a favor, and book anywhere else than The Castle Hotel and Spa."
