Reviews
"Petco always has amazing deals! I always come here to get my puppy a chew or a toy! Staff is always so friendly towards her and myself."
"I was sold a salt water shrimp. A cleaner fish. When I purchased I was told if it didn’t live I could receive a refund. It does in a day. When I came back I was told by the cashier that, yes, I would receive a refund. As my refund was being processed the manager came over and “qualified” their refund policy as not including saltwater fish. For the first time after being told twice there was no qualification and as my refund is being processed I was told not applicable. Before writing this review, I reached out to Petco’s customer service and received generic responses. I understand corporate policy regarding saltwater. But the lack of complete training of your employees so as multiple employees don’t understand the qualification and leads to misleading customers is not cool. I recently learned that Petco has a habit of obtaining saltwater fish from vendors that does not properly acclimate them. Resulting in a short life cycle. Petco lost a customer that spent approximately $500 to set up the saltwater system and otherwise had nice experiences with the customer service. All for the sake of a corporate policy that only the manager knew about and a $45 shrimp. Nice work."
"I know corporate pet stores will be corporate pet stores and their care will probably never be acceptable, but the least I expect is the animals on display to not be dying. I’m a big reptile keeper and i know a sick reptile when i see one. I have been surrendered many lizards geckos and snakes from stores that understood an animal needed immediate help. Well this leopard gecko is seriously Ill. I suspect it most likely has a disease called crypto due to the fact its mid section isn’t terribly thin, but the tail was as thin as a toothpick, and it’s hesd and eyes are terribly sunken in. Pictures don’t do justice on how poorly this guy looked. I know that is not the employees fault as their isn’t too much they could do. But at the very least this animal should be kept separate off display, where it cannot infect any other reptiles with its possible disease. I nicely asked a manager on shift (not sure her name but she was doing the closing shift tonight) if they would inquire with someone about surrendering this baby so i could get it some vet care and hopefully save its life. I was met with a very quick and snappy response that the animal was “fine” and has seen a vet. If that gecko saw a vet they would have 100% said he be kept solitary so he doesn’t get any other gecko in the tank sick, be on medication and being assist fed everyday. She had an attitude as if i was just trying to get a free animal. When it’s the complete opposite, this gecko would have costed me more than it’s worth in vet care and i was asking to do that for him. I understand if this employee wasn’t sure if they could surrender him or not, but the attitude with her response and trying to tell me this gecko was fine, wasn’t cool. The pictures speak for themselves on if this gecko is “fine” or not. This massive corporation can spare the 70$ they were charging for this decrepit animal to give it to someone who will attempt to save its life. Google a healthy leopard gecko to see what this baby SHOULD look like. He unfortunately most likely will not be around much longer with out immediate intervention."
"I ordered a Fluval 307 online to be picked up in the store. When I got to the store, the young lady had a hard time finding my order. She finally sees a garbage bag with my name and hands it to me. I said to her, "this can't be it". It was a Fuval 307 loose inside a garbage bag. I asked her where the box was and why I was getting one that looked to be a return. A manager came over and said their policy was to take stuff out of the box because of people stealing. I told him that does not make sense to give a customer merchandise taken out of the box and put into a garbage bag especially it was a Christmas present. Buyer beware."
