Forbury Pharmacy
About the Business
Welcome to Forbury Pharmacy, located at Hillside Road, Dunedin, New Zealand. As an establishment that prioritizes health and wellbeing, we are proud to serve as a trusted pharmacy and a point of interest in the community.
In these challenging times, we understand the importance of COVID-19 testing and vaccination. At Forbury Pharmacy, we offer these essential services to ensure the safety and health of our customers. Additionally, we provide COVID-19 antiviral medicine without the need for a prescription.
We strive to support the health of your entire family. Our knowledgeable pharmacists are here to provide advice and treatment for common minor illnesses, catering to people of all ages. With their expertise, they ensure that prescriptions are dispensed accurately and that the medicine and dosage are suitable for you. Our goal is to maximize the benefits you receive from your medicines. Your pharmacist will guide you on the purpose of your prescribed medications, how to take them, potential side effects, and proper storage techniques.
Rest assured that all advice and treatment at Forbury Pharmacy is conducted professionally and confidentially. Most of our services are provided free of charge, and appointments are generally not required.
Furthermore, we offer a safe disposal service for expired or unwanted medicines, as well as needles and syringes. This service is provided at no cost, emphasizing our commitment to the wellbeing of our community and the environment.
Please note that we are closed on public holidays, including King's Birthday, Matariki, Labour Day, Waitangi Day, Otago Anniversary, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, and ANZAC Day.
For individuals with long-term illnesses who require support with their medications, we offer a specialized service. Through an assessment, we identify factors that may affect your ability to take medication as prescribed. Our pharmacists work closely with you to address each issue. They can also assist in coordinating your medication so that prescription repeats align, reducing the need for multiple trips to have your prescriptions refilled. Additionally, we provide a convenient reminder service via text message, email, or phone call to notify you when your next supply of medications is ready for collection. If you're facing challenges in managing your medicines, such as forgetting to take them, please consult your pharmacist to determine if this service is suitable for you.
At Forbury Pharmacy, we support individuals in their journey to quit smoking. Our trained staff can provide advice and offer quit smoking support aids like nicotine gum.
We also prioritize the health of our young ones. If your child is under 14 years old and their medication is fully funded, we will fill their prescription for free during both normal working hours and after hours.
For your convenience, we offer compliance packaging services, including blister packs or sachet rolls, which clearly indicate when you should take your medicines. These packs can be supplied weekly or monthly, depending on your needs. Compliance packaging helps ensure you take your medication at the right time, making it easier to track missed doses or foresee when you may run out. This service is particularly useful for travelers, eliminating the need to carry multiple containers.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. Our pharmacists are trained to assess whether the Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP) is appropriate for you. The ECP is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, but it can be taken up to 72 hours after. Please note that there is usually a charge associated with receiving the ECP.
For individuals managing loss of bladder control, we offer a range of incontinence products. Our knowledgeable staff can assist you in selecting the most suitable products to help you manage this condition effectively.
At Forbury Pharmacy, we understand the sensitive nature of certain health concerns. We have specially trained pharmacists who can prescribe sildenafil for erectile dysfunction in men aged 35 to 70 years, provided they meet specific assessment criteria.
Some wounds require specialized attention and care. Our pharmacy has staff qualified to manage these wounds and can refer you to a doctor if necessary.
We also provide access to antibiotics for urinary tract infections. Our trained pharmacists can supply nitrofurantoin or trimethoprim without a prescription to women between 16 and 65 years of age, who are not pregnant and do not have any other complicating factors. The pharmacist will conduct a consultation to ensure the medicine is appropriate and refer you to a general practitioner if required.
If you require reports on your medicines or information on the cost of your medications, please don't hesitate to ask a member of our pharmacy team.
