Welcome to Wycliffe Nga Tamariki Kindergarten, located in the beautiful city of Napier, New Zealand. Situated at Cranby Crescent, 26, our institution is not just a school, but also a point of interest and establishment that aims to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for children.

At Wycliffe Nga Tamariki Kindergarten, we value each child as an individual and strive to achieve equity by offering equal opportunities to all. Our dedicated team of teachers maintains a ratio of one teacher to 10 children, ensuring that every child receives the attention and support they need. Additionally, we have non-teaching staff members who provide extra assistance.

We believe in the importance of whanaungatanga, which is the foundation of our Kindergarten. This includes our commitment to involving families and whanau in the learning journey of their children. We aim to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels respected and has a sense of belonging.

Children at our Kindergarten confidently engage in learning through a wide range of activities. We carefully consider the resources and environment to meet the individual needs of each child. Our staff work collaboratively and utilize the strengths of each teacher to provide diverse learning opportunities. Children are encouraged to make choices about their play and take the lead in their own learning.

A strong bicultural curriculum is an integral part of our Kindergarten. Children have consistent experiences of te ao Māori (the Māori world) through natural integration into daily activities. We have a kaiawhina who provides children with te reo Māori immersion opportunities and helps teachers gain confidence in using te reo Māori meaningfully in conversations.

Our teachers respectfully facilitate children's learning, using strategies to promote social competence and nurture relationships between children. We prioritize the wellbeing of our students through strong tuakana teina relationships, where older children guide and support younger ones. As a result, children develop a sense of ownership and belonging in our Kindergarten.
