At Mount Pleasant Yacht Club, we boast an impressive fleet of lasers, sunbursts, optimists, and p class dinghies, ensuring that there is a boat suitable for everyone. Our club racing events are held most weekends between September and April, providing thrilling competitions and opportunities for sailors to showcase their skills.
We are proud to offer a comprehensive Learn to Sail program for both Juniors and Adults, catering to those who are new to the sport or looking to enhance their skills. Additionally, our Coaching program is designed for advanced learners, providing them with the guidance and expertise needed to take their sailing prowess to the next level.
Collaborating with the Christchurch and Pleasant Point clubs, we organize Estuary Club series, fostering a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition within the sailing community. These events showcase the talent and dedication of our members while promoting the spirit of sportsmanship.
Conveniently located just over the Ferrymead Bridge, our Clubhouse serves as a hub of activity and social gatherings. Recently, we have completed the construction of our state-of-the-art boat shed, a modern facility that ensures our club is well-equipped for the future.
One of the standout features of Mount Pleasant Yacht Club is its accessibility. We offer ample ramps and wide shallows, making boat launching and retrieval a breeze. "Don't know a whole lot about yachts only that some luxury yachts (also called superyachts or megayachts) are over 70 metres (230 feet) in length with the longest examples reaching over 150 metres (492 feet), hence only the 4 stars. But other than that the rave that I attended the boathouse was pretty fun."
"Loose stones spreading on to the grass. Annoying wire rope barrier to keep stepping over when unloading windsurfing gear. No new wind protection since removing all the old fences and shrubs."
