The Spirits Workshop Distillery

Welcome to The Spirits Workshop Distillery, a small batch craft distillery located in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our distillery is distinctly New Zealand, as we pride ourselves on using locally sourced ingredients to create our high-quality spirits.

At The Spirits Workshop, we have crafted a range of gins and whiskies using Canterbury malted grain and pure artesian Canterbury water. These ingredients form the backbone of our spirits and contribute to their unique and delicious flavors.

Our journey began with our original 50 litre pot still, affectionately named Yoyo. For the first three years, Yoyo produced our first four Curiosity Gins, which quickly gained recognition in the spirits world. Yoyo is still in action today, but in 2019, we acquired a 500 litre still that now produces all our gin and whisky.

Leading our distillery is Antony, our Chief Gin Officer, Master Distiller, and Managing Director. With over 20 years of experience in the corporate world, Antony combined his skills in chemistry, engineering, and strategy to guide The Spirits Workshop on its journey of crafting exceptional spirits.

What sets us apart is our curiosity for great flavor. We are constantly exploring new techniques and ingredients to create unique and delightful products that our customers love. We believe that sharing the knowledge of how our spirits are crafted and giving them a personal story adds to the enjoyment of our products.

While our whisky stock is still maturing in virgin oak barrels, we released our first whisky, Divergence - French Oak, in October 2020. It has already received gold medals in 2021 from both the World Spirits Awards and the New Zealand Whisky Awards. Additionally, we offer special single barrel releases, ranging from Tawny Port to Pinot Noir to Sloe Gin, which have been exceptionally well-received.

For whisky enthusiasts, we offer the exciting option of owning and maturing your own mini barrel. This allows you to be a part of the whisky-making process and create a truly unique and personalized spirit.

In addition to our whiskies, we have an extensive range of gins. Our Curiosity Gins are made in small batches using whole botanicals and are handcrafted, bottled, labeled, and corked by hand. Each gin in our range has its own distinct flavor profile, from the complex and curious Negroni Special to the refreshing and fruity Ruby Gin.
