Ngamuwahine Track

To access the actual track, you will need to climb over the locked gate located to the right of Ngamuwahine Lodge. Once you have overcome this hurdle, you will be rewarded with the true start of the Department of Conservation (DOC) track. The Ngamuwahine Stream, famous for its trout, can also be accessed via this track. Please note that licenses are required for fishing and can be conveniently purchased from Fish and Game New Zealand outlets.

To reach Ngamuwahine Track, simply take Ngamuwahine Road off SH29. At the end of the road, past the lodge, you will find yourself surrounded by the enchanting forest, ready to embark on your adventure.
