Kaharoa School

Welcome to Kaharoa School, located at Hamurana, Kaharoa Road, 296 in New Zealand. We are an establishment and point of interest that serves as a primary school for students in the area. At Kaharoa School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are proud to share that last term, we celebrated the achievements of several students who were awarded their Stepping Up and Wheel awards, as well as Head, Heart, Hands acknowledgements. This highlights the dedication and effort that both our students and teachers put into teaching and demonstrating our school values in action.

This term, we are focusing on our learner dispositions, which include characteristics such as stop, think...do, give and receive, self-manager, can-do kid, and team player. By instilling these values and learner dispositions in our students, we aim to develop capable and resilient young individuals who are well-prepared for the future.

In addition to our academic program, we also believe in providing opportunities for our students to engage in extracurricular activities. For example, the Rotorua Badminton Club offers junior and youth badminton sessions on Wednesday evenings during school terms. This allows our students to develop their skills and interests outside of the classroom.

We are also excited to share that TECT Park, our local outdoor adventure playground, is seeking feedback from the community. This park has been a popular destination for over 10 years, and now they are looking to embark on the next chapter. Your ideas and input are valuable, and by sharing them, you have a chance to win some cool prizes!

At Kaharoa School, we believe in fostering a sense of community and school spirit. Our House Captains will be hosting a House Sports Day on 8 September, where all students are encouraged to dress in their house colors. There will be prizes for the best dressed house, and activities will begin at 10:40am. If you have any drums or buckets that could be used for activities, please email shinadep@karahoa.school.nz.

As an institution, we also actively participate in community events, such as being a voting station on election day. On Saturday, 14 October 2023, our school library will be open from 9am to 7pm for voting. For more information about voting in the election, please visit the Vote NZ website.

We understand that choosing the right high school for your child is an important decision. That is why we want to inform you about upcoming orientation events at nearby schools. Western Heights High School invites prospective parents and their Year 8 children to attend an Orientation Evening on Tuesday, 15 August 2023. They also have an Open Day for Year 8 students to visit the school on the same day. Rotorua Girls' High School is hosting an Open Day on Thursday, 14 September 2023, for Year 8 girls interested in attending next year. In the evening, they will also be hosting a "Girls Night In" (Open Evening) for Year 8 girls and their families to learn more about what they can offer in 2024.
