Welcome to New Shoots Children's Centre - Bayfair, located in the heart of Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. Our centre is not only an establishment and point of interest, but also a school that provides a nurturing and educational environment for children.
Conveniently situated just a stone's throw away from Bayfair Shopping Centre and the local beach, our centre is perfectly positioned for families living or working in Mount Maunganui. After five years of careful planning, designing, and building, we have created a centre that seamlessly blends with the fast-growing neighborhood.
Inspired by the laidback and coastal lifestyle of the Mount, our architecturally designed building features a stunning canopy that reflects the nearby waves. This canopy not only adds a touch of beauty to our centre, but also provides outdoor shelter, allowing our tamariki (children) to enjoy all-weather play.
Our nature-inspired outside area offers children ample space to learn, play, and soak up some valuable vitamin D. With water tables, sandpits, walking trails, and climbing towers, the outdoors is a shared space that fosters a sense of family within the centre.
Inside, our centre boasts a gorgeous and calming aesthetic, creating a home-like environment where tamariki feel relaxed and at ease. Our dedicated teaching team understands the importance of play in a child's development and encourages children to pursue their own curiosity.
New Shoots Bayfair is located within Salt, a contemporary living village that includes green spaces, modern apartments, and a café. Bringing our centre to life has been a true collaboration with local businesses, artists, florists, and furniture makers, showcasing the essence of community at its finest.

Our fees include nappies, meals, wetbags, bags, and hats/beanies, ensuring your child's needs are met throughout the day. At New Shoots, we believe that every day is an opportunity to connect, thrive, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
Please note that we operate as a full day service and do not offer short days or sessions. Our fees include high-quality teacher ratios above Ministry of Education Standards, and the minimum enrolment requirement is two days per week. A $50 enrolment fee is due upon enrolment to secure your child's place, and a two-week notice is required when terminating enrolment.
If you have two or more children attending New Shoots full time, you will receive a 10% discount on your eldest child's fees. While we provide nappies and food, please bring your own formula from home if required.

"We have been with New Shoots Bayfair from the very first day they opened in June 2020. I have two children attending the centre and I have been able to watch them grow and flourish from all the love and support of the teachers over the past 8 months. It’s a very well run centre as the staff are top notch. This is hands down the main reason we love this pre-school so much. Below are a few of the other things we like: (1) the decor and choice of toys and materials the children play and engage with are high quality (2) The outdoor area is open to all the kids to share. That means big kids and little kids interact and learn from each other. My youngest is often found playing with or near his big sister almost daily. (3) Full-time chef cooking healthy meals daily. This is so important as we don’t have to worry about the kids getting the right nutrition. My oldest will often talk about her trying new veggies or foods at school that day. (4) Teachers. I have mentioned this already but the teachers here are really amazing. You can just see how it reflects in all the children. The love and care they give allows the children a safe and loving place to learn and grow. My children really have flourished under their care and I am so grateful to have found this centre."
"New shoots bay fair have been amazing with my 3 year old son who is allergic to dairy,egg, peanut and cats. They have there own chef who makes amazing nutritional meals. All teachers are lovely and we are very happy. They have a realy good set up for all age groups and it is realy clean and heaps of different indoor out door toys my son loves it."
"Both my kids attend this Centre - all educators are lovely and we are very happy. I really enjoy the diversity of this Centre as the educators have quite different personalities, ages and backgrounds. My youngest had a few issues settling in and everyone was amazing trying to accommodate him to make him happy, he surely got lots of cuddles. The kids have great resources to play with and it puts our toys at home to shame! The outside area seems small-ish (like most daycare Centre's in cities...we are still not used to it as we moved from a regional place), but it's big enough for the kids to go wild and the spaces have been designed really clever to make the most of it. All age-groups share the outside area, which I think is great as kids get to interact with different age-groups (and siblings can play together) and also gives the kids one big outside area, rather than 5 tiny ones. The menu sounds amazing and it's such a relief not having to worry about lunch boxes, while knowing that the kids get great food. Most days I would prefer their menu over my lunch!"
