Glentui Waterfalls
About the Business
Welcome to Glentui Waterfalls, a spectacular natural wonder located in Canterbury, New Zealand. As an establishment, park, and point of interest, Glentui Waterfalls offers visitors an unforgettable experience immersed in the beauty of nature.
But Glentui Waterfalls is not just about breathtaking scenery. We are committed to promoting and preserving New Zealand's unique ecosystem. In collaboration with the Department of Conservation (DOC), we support various conservation initiatives to protect our natural heritage.
One such initiative is the Jobs for Nature funding, which has enabled us to employ local staff to undertake conservation work in the Southern Lakes Sanctuary. This not only helps restore and maintain the sanctuary but also provides employment opportunities for tourism workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, we are proud to support the Government's efforts in establishing 19 new protection areas in the Hauraki Gulf/Tīkapa Moana. These areas ensure the preservation of our marine environment and its diverse species.
For those passionate about research, DOC offers postgraduate research scholarships for conservation-related studies in the natural and social sciences. This provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the understanding and conservation of our precious ecosystems.
We are also actively involved in protecting our environment through events like the National Wild Goat Hunting Competition. By participating in this competition, not only can you compete for national and local prizes, but you also play a crucial role in safeguarding our environment from the negative impact of wild goats.
At Glentui Waterfalls, we are committed to the well-being of our native wildlife. If you come across a New Zealand fur seal, it is generally best to leave it alone. However, there may be exceptions where intervention is necessary. Our knowledgeable staff can provide guidance on how to handle such situations.
We also recognize the importance of raising awareness about the challenges faced by our native frogs. The New Zealand Journal of Ecology's latest special issue focuses on these precious amphibians, paying tribute to the late Emeritus Professor Phil Bishop, who dedicated his life to championing our native frog species.
We take pride in our commitment to preserving our heritage, as demonstrated by our successful completion of the restoration of the 140-year-old stone retaining walls at Denniston. This complex project showcases our dedication to preserving historical landmarks while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding environment.
Lastly, as we enter the whitebait season from 1 September to 30 October, DOC emphasizes the importance of ensuring a safe and happy experience for everyone involved. They provide valuable guidelines to follow, ensuring the sustainability of this cherished tradition.
At Glentui Waterfalls, we invite you to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature while contributing to the conservation efforts that make New Zealand a truly remarkable destination. Come and experience the wonders of Glentui Waterfalls today!

"Amazing! Well worth the drive. Great place to go for walks and is great for the kids too. Easy to walk. Waterfall is awesome. Wish you could closer though!"
"What a fantastic place to be close and in the glorious and breath taking Bush and waterfall. So stunning and it makes me feel so lucky we live in the most stunning place in the world."
"Great track with an awesome reward at the end! Walk is intermediate, with many steep or narrow sections, but great views all around. Plenty of wasp bait stations keep the wasp levels to a minimum as well. Loop track means you can walk for either 10 or 50 minutes to reach the falls. Good picnic facilities too."
