Northern Health School - Tauranga Unit

Welcome to the Northern Health School - Tauranga Unit, located at 17th Avenue in Tauranga, New Zealand. We are an establishment of interest that serves as a school for school-aged students who are too unwell to attend their regular schools. As one of three health schools in New Zealand, we provide community and hospital-based teaching, tailored to meet the unique health and education needs of our students.

We are proud to share the positive results of our recent Education Review Office review with our community. The review highlighted our strong performance in supporting students and meeting their individual needs through personalized programs. It also commended our efforts in developing links with local communities, including local Iwi, and our focus on staff development and capability building.

Wellbeing is a crucial area of focus for us, and we are pleased to see the recognition of our work in this area. We strive to ensure the wellbeing of our students and have included it as one of our charter goals. Additionally, we are continuously working on improving our reporting methods to track student progress effectively, considering the unique nature of our student population.

The Northern Health School Board is committed to ongoing reflection and improvement. We have implemented external contractors in the principal's performance appraisal process and regularly update our policies to ensure a sound complaints framework and meeting procedure. We are also working on implementing the Learning Progressions Framework to track student progress and analyze trends across various factors.
