Welcome to Step Ahead Trust, a community-based establishment located at 167 Stanmore Road, Christchurch, New Zealand. We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing acceptance and well-being for individuals with mental health issues in Canterbury.
At Step Ahead, we offer a relaxing space where you can find support, make friends, learn new skills, and have fun. Our goal is to help you better manage life's everyday challenges through a range of activities and gatherings.
Activities are at the heart of what we do. Unlike other institutions, we provide multiple activities each day, giving our members the freedom to choose what interests them the most. Whether it's art classes, group outings, or wellness workshops, we have something for everyone. What's more, many of our activities are either free or available at a minimal cost, thanks to subsidies.
Our aim is to help individuals with mental illness integrate into community life and wellness. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, understanding, and non-judgmental place. When you step into our facility, you might even mistake us for a group of well-organized friends rather than a not-for-profit organization.
Members are at the heart of our organization. They not only participate in activities but also contribute to the decision-making process. We value their input and often employ members or invite them to join our Board of Trustees. The support and friendships formed within our community are invaluable and long-lasting.
Step Ahead offers a diverse range of activities every day, designed to help individuals with mental illness socialize, learn, and grow. Our calendar is filled with events and gatherings that support our members in stepping back into wellness and spending time in the community.
We firmly believe that being involved with Step Ahead can make a positive difference in your life. We respect individual choices and offer a voluntary attendance policy, allowing you to decide your level of participation.
