Welcome to Karin Muir - Live Well Psychology, located in Christchurch, New Zealand. As a registered Clinical Psychologist with ten years of experience, I am dedicated to providing confidential and evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment for adults aged 18 and above who are facing mental health challenges or life stressors.

At Karin Muir - Live Well Psychology, I adopt a compassionate and collaborative approach to working with each individual, tailoring my methods to meet your specific needs. My goal is to help you gain a clearer understanding of your difficulties and equip you with the skills to manage challenging thoughts or emotions that may be hindering you from living the life you desire. Additionally, I strive to help you identify what truly matters to you and support you in taking actions that lead to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. For those interested in schema therapy or individuals struggling with recurrent or long-term issues, we will explore how childhood experiences have shaped your beliefs and coping mechanisms, and how they may be contributing to your current difficulties.

While my initial training focused on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I have a particular interest in acceptance and mindfulness-based approaches, as well as Schema Therapy. I have undergone additional training in Schema Therapy, Mindful Self Compassion, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Currently, I am in the process of obtaining accreditation in Schema Therapy. I typically integrate various treatment modalities to cater to each individual's unique needs. Above all, my priority is to provide a safe space where you feel understood and supported as you explore new ways of thinking and being.

With a broad range of experience in community and inpatient mental health settings, both in New Zealand and the UK, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. I have also provided brief intervention in an EAP setting and have worked extensively in correctional and forensic services.

As a full member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists (NZCCP) and registered with the New Zealand Psychologist's Board under the clinical scope, you can trust that you are receiving professional care. I also offer diagnostic assessments for Adult ADHD and am an ACC registered provider for sensitive claims and physical injury. Please note that I am currently accepting referrals for ADHD assessments only through The Psychology Hub.

To enhance accessibility and continuity of care, I am able to provide telepsychology sessions (online therapy) by negotiation. This option can be particularly helpful for individuals who are away for work, live in remote areas with travel barriers, or during times of COVID restrictions. If you are interested in telepsychology sessions, please let me know when you inquire.

In addition to my therapy services, I offer supervision for other psychologists, counsellors, and therapists. With my training in supervision and a focus on both content and process issues, I prioritize supporting your clinical work and ensuring your well-being as a therapist.
