Huntly itself is a historic coal mining town with a population of approximately 7000. It is famous for its Power Station, which happens to be the largest power station in the Southern Hemisphere. Dive into the town's rich mining history by visiting the Huntly Coalfields museum.

Nature lovers will also find plenty to explore near North End Motel. There are several nearby lakes and walkways, including the scenic Lake Hakanoa Walkway, which takes around 45 minutes to complete.
