Welcome to Northern Surgical Centre, located at 212 Wairau Road in Auckland, New Zealand. Our institution, Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital, is part of a rapidly growing private healthcare campus on Auckland's North Shore. As one of four Southern Cross owned hospital sites in the Auckland region, we are proud to offer the only private surgical in-patient hospital on the North Shore.

Our hospital facilities include the Northern Clinic site, which houses state-of-the-art procedure rooms and practitioner consulting facilities. Additionally, we are home to Waitemata Endoscopy, a purpose-built endoscopy suite operated by highly qualified medical practitioners in partnership with Southern Cross Healthcare. We also have Intra's cutting-edge, image-guided healthcare centre on our campus.

At Northern Surgical Centre, we prioritize the wellbeing and comfort of our patients. Our professional and caring registered nurse workforce is dedicated to providing exceptional care. We offer spacious rooms for overnight stays, complete with en-suite bathrooms, televisions with selected SKY TV channels, radios, refrigerators, and tea/coffee making facilities. We also provide quality nourishing meals, with special dietary needs catered for upon request.

Visiting hours at our hospital are from 11am to 8pm. However, please note that due to Covid-19 precautions, visitors may be impacted, and we recommend reviewing our Covid-19 page before visiting.

Our North Harbour hospital campus is equipped with all the facilities you would expect from a large private surgical hospital. This includes cutting-edge digital and hybrid operating theatres, a da Vinci® surgical robot, a range of on-site consulting and practitioner treatment suites, an Intermediate Care Facility for higher dependency patient care, and modern and comfortable patient rooms.

Within the Northern Clinic, we have a variety of credentialled practitioner consulting and treatment centers, such as a purpose-built endoscopy suite, on-site cardiology services, cancer care, sports medicine, radiology, and other practitioner services.

For general health enquiries, questions, or concerns, we advise contacting your admitting specialist, GP, or local accident and emergency center by telephone.

To ensure we can provide the best care for you, we ask that you complete the Southern Cross patient Admission Pack provided by your surgeon before your hospital procedure. These forms help our healthcare teams plan for your care and include questions about your personal details, health history, any special needs, and payment. Please complete all sections thoroughly.

After reviewing your forms, we may contact you to request additional information about your health or additional documents, such as power of attorney documents or Welfare Guardian documents. We may also request a pre-admission consultation.

Please remember to bring your 'Agreement to Treatment Form' provided by your specialist when you come to the hospital.

If you prefer, you can complete your Patient Admission and Patient Health Questionnaire forms online. This will send your details directly to the hospital, and you can also request a copy for your own reference. We recommend using a desktop computer or tablet for the best user experience.

For non-New Zealand residents, please complete the 'Acknowledgement Form: Non NZ Resident' which can be found on our website.

To ensure a safe recovery after surgery, we encourage you to read our Preventing Infection After Surgery brochure and watch our Staying Safe Before and After Surgery video, both available on our website.

Once you have completed the patient forms, you can scan or photograph them legibly and email them to the hospital or send them by post. Please allow 1-2 extra weeks for delivery if posting forms.

Lastly, we want to remind you that admission to the hospital for treatment puts you at a high risk of blood clots. If you have any concerns or if any of the mentioned factors apply to you, please discuss them with your GP or treating medical specialist.
