Naenae Primary School & Community Emergency Hub
About the Business
Welcome to Naenae Primary School & Community Emergency Hub, located at 27 Wheatley Street in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. We are a unique establishment that not only provides education in the English New Zealand curriculum, but also offers a range of classes to ensure that your whanau (family) feels welcome and at home here in our kura (school).
At Naenae Primary School, we have Tava'e, our Samoan bilingual classes, where students can learn in both English and Samoan. We also have Kohanga te Ra, our total immersion Te Reo Māori classes, where students can immerse themselves in the Māori language and culture. Additionally, we have Conductive Education, a specialized program for students with special education needs.
Our school provides a positive learning environment that highly values cultural identity and encourages our learners to strive for their best every day. The skills they develop here will set them up for success in their future endeavors. We take pride in offering a challenging and stimulating environment that maximizes the emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development of our tamariki (children).
At Naenae Primary School, we believe in creating a safe environment where care and respect are paramount. We value others, take responsibility, show self-respect and self-discipline, and strive for excellence in ourselves. In everything we do, we strive to do it to the best of our ability.
We are a whānau (family) who demonstrate Care and Respect for Each other, C.A.R.E. We celebrate our cultural diversity within a warm and friendly environment. We have a strong sense of Mana Whenua - Belonging. We believe that by working together, with your food basket and our food basket, the people will thrive.
Here at Naenae Primary School, we also prioritize the care and protection of our whenua (land). Our tumuaki (principal), Murray, spends time with our senior students each week, working with the land to ensure it is clean, fresh, and healthy. We understand the importance of preserving our environment and passing on this knowledge to future generations.
"What makes you different makes you beautiful!" This is our belief at Naenae Primary School. We embrace and celebrate uniqueness, and we have a dedicated team to support those in high need. Special needs are never a barrier here; instead, we provide a well-catered and tailored approach to working with specific tamariki and their individual needs.
Our pride lies in our identity and our culture, which we carry with us here at Naenae Primary School. We value our ancestors and where we come from. We hold onto our language, our roots, and our customs. Just like those before us, we will pass this knowledge on to the next generation, ensuring that our Samoan language and culture live on for generations to come.
"Ko te reo te mauri o te mana Māori" - The language is the life force of Te Mana Māori. We are proud to introduce our total immersion unit, 'Kohanga Te Ra', which caters to tamariki from year 0-8. This unit provides a rich learning environment where students can fully immerse themselves in Te Reo Māori and embrace the mana (power) of the language.
We are delighted to have you as part of our school community at Naenae Primary School & Community Emergency Hub. Together, we can create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
