As a state co-ed primary school, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for our students. Nestled beside the picturesque hills of Wainuiomata, our school offers a tranquil setting that inspires creativity and exploration.

The name "Arakura" holds great significance to us. It was gifted to us in 1965 by Īhāia Pōrutu Puketapu, a revered chief and leader of the Te Ati-Awa-No-Runga-I-Te-Rangi tribe of Waiwhetu. In Māori, "ara" means path and "kura" means learning, symbolizing our commitment to guiding our students on their educational journey.

One of the highlights of our school is the wharenui, 'Arohanui ki te Tangata' (Goodwill to All Men), located in Waiwhetu. This traditional meeting house stands as a testament to the vision and leadership of Īhāia Pōrutu Puketapu. It serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and community spirit in our educational endeavors.
