Welcome to the Autism NZ Resource Centre, located at 20 Sydney Street in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, our mission is to empower the autistic and wider autism communities.

With years of experience working with autistic individuals and their support networks, Autism New Zealand is dedicated to providing support, information, and education. We understand that autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects approximately 93,000 New Zealanders. The traits associated with autism create a unique way of perceiving the world and interacting with others.

At Autism New Zealand, we have collaborated with the community to develop numerous educational programs that aim to increase public understanding of autism. Through these programs, we assist autistic individuals and their support networks in learning about autism and finding the necessary supports and services they require.

To ensure the accuracy of our prevalence figures, we have taken international data from Maenner et al. (2020), which reports the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder among children aged 8 years in the United States. By utilizing this information, we can better understand the impact of autism and tailor our services to meet the specific needs of the New Zealand population.
