Arcimboldi
About the Business
Welcome to Arcimboldi, Seatoun's community cafe/restaurant located at 24 Dundas Street, Wellington. Our institution is a point of interest for locals and visitors alike, offering a unique experience that combines delicious food, good wine, and quality time spent together.
Named after the renowned 16th-century Mannerist artist Guiseppe Arcimboldi, our establishment draws inspiration from his incredible portraits, which were composed of fruit, vegetables, plants, and sea creatures. Mannerism, a transitional period between the High Renaissance and the Baroque period, emphasized the close relationship between humans and nature. Arcimboldi's appreciation for nature has inspired our approach to cooking, where we strive to showcase the beauty and flavors of fresh, seasonal produce with a natural touch.
At Arcimboldi, we believe in fostering a sense of community. Whether you're looking for a venue to host your sports team, book club, or coffee group, we are here to accommodate your needs. Our cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it the perfect place to gather with friends, family, or colleagues.
Our menu features a wide selection of hearty classics made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. From pizzas and pastas to salads, steak, and schnitzel, there is something to satisfy every palate. We take pride in offering vegan-friendly options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy our delicious food, including our famous muffins available in our daily cabinet.
To complement your meal, we offer an extensive selection of New Zealand and international wines, as well as local Wellington beers on tap. If you're in the mood for something refreshing, our cocktail list and cold drinks are sure to please. And of course, we serve coffee all day starting from 9:00 am, so you can enjoy a cup of your favorite brew whenever you visit.
If you'd like to stay up-to-date with our menus and information, simply send us an email, and we'll add you to our mailing list. We look forward to welcoming you to Arcimboldi, where great food, wine, and community come together for an unforgettable experience.

"Delicious food and warm, friendly service sums up our experience at Arcimboldi! The selection of wines and cocktails was perfect for an intimate restaurant. Our appetizers were exceptional, especially the calamari, so tender! I had the veal marsala with a glass of a NZ red and it was an awesome combo. My family had salads and gnocchi and the steak, and everyone raved about their meals. For desert, I had a glass of delicious port, and the pannacotta and apple pie were not to be missed. We bought a loaf of banana bread for breakfast tomorrow. Highly recommend!"
"Absolutely loved this place, I've come here with my toddler aged son a few times and they are always accommodating. I ordered off the breakfast menu both times while he got the kids pizza. The breakfast items I had were delicious and well balanced, his pizza was great, the cheese tasted high quality for a kids pizza and the coffee was well made too. Plus there were cute dogs out back. That always helps."
"Cute place and lovely staff but the hot chocolate needed waaaayyyy more chocolate. Basically just hot milk with chocolate powder. I’m not a kid so please don’t give me child safe amounts of chocolate. Yummy little orange cake tho"
"Outstanding Cafe with great staff and a great menu that will suit everyone. The simple things are done so well here. Friendly excellent service with a smile. Highly recommended."
"This place is good, but it could have been better. We got the 300g Rib steak medium rare, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The taste and texture were on point. We also ordered a Buffala pizza that was decent enough, but there is better pizza for the same price in Wellington. Lastly, we got a side order of Fried Calamari, which was disappointing. They tasted like they were straight out of a frozen bag you get from the supermarket, plus they were undercooked. The service of the staff was good, and they were friendly. This place may be better during the day. Give it a go if you get a chance."
