Wellington Repertory Theatre
About the Business
Welcome to Wellington Repertory Theatre, located at 22 Ghuznee Street in Wellington, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to be a long-standing institution in the Wellington theatre community, with a history spanning over 90 years.
At Wellington Repertory Theatre, we are dedicated to bringing exceptional theatrical experiences to our audiences. In 2023, we are thrilled to present four incredible shows that are sure to captivate and entertain. One highlight of our season is a locally written adaptation of Charles Dickens' beloved classic, Great Expectations: Pip - The Musical. This enchanting production will take the stage in November and promises to be a must-see event.
But that's not all! We have a variety of other shows to keep you thoroughly entertained. Where's My Money? is a gripping play that delves into the complexities of marriage, divorce, and the pursuit of wealth. With its mix of brutal honesty, lies, and deceit, this production will leave you on the edge of your seat.
For those seeking a lighthearted and hilarious experience, Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense is the perfect choice. Based on P.G. Wodehouse's novel, this play, written by David and Robert Goodale, will have you laughing from start to finish.
We also have Top Girls, a thought-provoking three-act play by the talented playwright Caryl Churchill. This powerful work explores the lives of women in a patriarchal society and the sacrifices they make to succeed in a capitalist world.
And let's not forget the haunting tale of Picnic at Hanging Rock. Transport yourself to 1900s New Zealand as three schoolgirls mysteriously disappear during a picnic expedition. This atmospheric production will leave you pondering the mysteries of the remote Hanging Rock.
At Wellington Repertory Theatre, we are grateful for the support of our sponsors, who make our 2023 Season possible. We would like to extend a special thank you to Whistling Sisters, a company dedicated to fighting breast cancer and funding advanced research. A portion of our profits goes towards the Karen Louisa Foundation, a trust created in memory of Karen Louisa, who lost her life to breast cancer.
So come join us at Wellington Repertory Theatre for an unforgettable theatrical experience. From captivating dramas to side-splitting comedies, we have something for everyone. Plan your visit to our historic venue on Ghuznee Street and immerse yourself in the magic of live theatre.
