For nature enthusiasts, Ōtari Native Botanic Garden and Wilton's Bush Reserve is a must-visit attraction. It is the only public botanic garden in New Zealand dedicated solely to native plants. If history fascinates you, Truby King House and Garden is a heritage-listed estate nestled in Melrose. Once the home of Sir Truby and Lady Isabella King, the founders of the Plunket Society, this estate offers a glimpse into the past. For those interested in Wellington's rich history, our institution is also located near the city's oldest European cemetery. Originally a site for Māori burials, the cemetery began European burials in 1840. Here, you can take a tranquil and historically fascinating escape from the city. Many notable figures from early Wellington are laid to rest here, and the cemetery boasts a heritage rose collection inspired by original graveside plantings. The blooms peak from November to December, providing a beautiful and fragrant experience.
