Welcome to Montessori at Otari Preschool & Playgroup, located on Wilton Road in Wellington, New Zealand. Our institution is dedicated to nourishing the human spirit and creating a better world. We achieve this by providing holistic development opportunities for children aged 0 to 6 in our Playgroup and Preschool.
At Montessori at Otari, we offer high-quality, authentic Montessori Early Childhood education. Our staff are well-trained, experienced, and friendly, ensuring that your child receives the best possible care and education. The principles and practices of the Montessori philosophy, as well as the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki, guide our Preschool.

We promote independence, curiosity, and creativity in a Montessori prepared environment that allows individual freedom balanced with responsibility. We also prioritize supporting, nurturing, protecting, and respecting each other, our community, and the environment. The Montessori philosophy emphasizes the holistic development of the child, based on the belief in their innate potential. By enrolling your child at Montessori at Otari from an early age, you are giving them the tools to thrive in life. Our education encourages independence, self-discovery, and a love for learning.
We operate on a term-based schedule, with Term 1 starting on Monday, January 30th, and ending on Thursday, April 6th. Term 2 begins on Wednesday, April 26th, and concludes on Friday, June 30th, with closures for ANZAC Day, Queen’s Birthday, and Matariki. Term 3 commences on Monday, July 17th, and concludes on Friday, September 22nd.
