Proxima School of Music

Welcome to Proxima School of Music, located at 97 Hanham Road, Kumeu, Auckland 0891. At Proxima School of Music, we believe in teaching our students beyond what we already know. Our aim is to instill a passion for music and encourage our students to explore and search for new knowledge and skills.

We offer piano lessons for beginners and intermediate students. However, if you are at or beyond grade 4 of ABRSM in piano, we recommend seeking lessons elsewhere. Our piano and theory lessons are suitable for both children and adults. Our focus is on developing beautiful playing, and throughout the training process, we emphasize ease, practice methodology, and musicality. Each lesson is tailored to meet the individual needs of our students, and we are capable of teaching a wide range of genres and styles, including pop, musicals, film music, and classical.

For those interested in theory and harmony, we offer lessons that cater to your specific needs. Whether you are a performer looking to improve your note reading and analysis skills or a budding composer seeking guidance on voice-leading and harmonizing passages, we have you covered. In addition to weekend lessons, we also offer theory lessons throughout the week during certain periods of the year.

Before committing to regular lessons, we encourage all prospective students to come in for a free trial lesson. This gives you the opportunity to experience our teaching style and ensure that it aligns with your goals and expectations. For beginners, lessons are 30 minutes long and cost $30 per lesson. Advanced students typically require hour-long lessons, which are priced at $60.
