Lifeline
About the Business
Welcome to Lifeline, located at 256 Herries Street, Newtown, Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and store, we are dedicated to supporting our community in various ways.
At Lifeline, we firmly believe in the power of reconciliation and healing. We fully support the Uluru Statement from the Heart and advocate for Treaty and Truth Telling. We walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, supporting a Yes Vote to introduce a Voice to Parliament. By embracing these values, we strive to create a more inclusive and harmonious society.
One of our key initiatives is to assist individuals in developing work skills and gaining the confidence to enter or reenter the workforce through paid traineeships. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive professionally and contribute to the community.
We understand that life can present challenges, and we are here to help. If you find yourself in a situation where you can't keep your family warm, lack a safe place to call home, or struggle to put food on the table, Lifeline is here to support you. Through counseling, food assistance, housing, and crisis support, we aim to provide aid to the most vulnerable individuals in our community. Together, we can make a difference and ensure no one is left behind.
Volunteering is a fantastic way to give back to your community, and at Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Queensland, we offer opportunities to do just that. By joining our team of dedicated volunteers, you can contribute to our mission and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
In addition to our community-driven initiatives, we also offer affordable, quality items for sale. Our customers enjoy a wide range of options, including clothing, books, furniture, and collectables. With every purchase, you not only acquire a great item but also contribute to supporting the local community.

"After visiting this store today, I'm not exactly sure who it is for. I assumed it would be reasonably priced 2nd hand goods for people doing it tough. What I found was outrageous. I'm not sure who is pricing items there, but it seems like something seriously fishy is going on here. Save yourself the trouble, go to St Vinnies or buy new, it's quite literally cheaper than here."
"6 months ago I visited this store it had great prices fantastic range of stock .. Dropped in yesterday omg what happened prices have gone from good to ridiculous its now cheaper to buy new items"
"Pricing is very inconsistent at this op shop, while on the odd occasion they'll have overstock clearance on furniture and bric-a-brac of say 50% off - that only makes the price 'reasonable'. The prices on electrical goods are outrageous, especially considering that you'll get a warranty at places like K-Mart for the same price / often cheaper. Stock sits around because it's overpriced, same pieces of average looking furniture sitting around for months - pictures of religious figures with ridiculous prices have been at this store for YEARS, yep that's correct, YEARS. Wouldn't donate my goods here and often gets skipped over on our op shop trips because low rotation of stock and we can't afford the ludicrous pricing. I feel sorry for the kind and friendly volunteers, I always get a friendly welcome and they work extremely hard - but the lifeline corporation has a whole, needs to wake up to themselves."
"Visited yesterday and clothing fill a bag for $10. Very happy with my purchases. Yes the vintage items may seem expensive but prices are compatible with vintage stores and there were some rare pieces there."
"Hands down the most obscenely overpriced op shop in South-East Queensland. Their prices make antique stores seem like your local dollar shop. The only explanation I can come up with is that the volunteers intentionally overprice the stock to avoid selling anything and then having to restock."
