We take pride in our visionary leadership in both the medical and business fields. Our staff actively participate in local, national, and international medical societies, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in orthopaedic medicine. Moreover, our surgeons are involved in the registrar training program at Cairns Hospital, actively preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals for our community.
As a clinic committed to the community, we also engage in charitable activities. We support organizations such as Send Hope Not Flowers, FNQ Youth Assistance Fund, and Cancer Council, demonstrating our dedication to making a positive impact beyond our medical services.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Cairns Orthopaedic Clinic acknowledges and respects the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to the land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their elders, both past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
While some orthopaedic practices specialize in specific areas, our surgeons at Cairns Orthopaedic Clinic have expertise in and treat all areas of orthopaedic medicine. They also play an active role in the registrar training program at Cairns Hospital, ensuring the continuous development of healthcare professionals in our community.
We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking practice, working holistically with our patients and their families to provide personalized treatment and care. We believe in empowering our patients to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
In addition to Dr. James's private practice within Cairns Orthopaedic Clinic, she now attends select clinics at Cairns Hospital. Please refer to the Sports Medicine Page for more information on the referral process for FNQSM.
We recently celebrated Rose's 20-year anniversary as our Practice Manager, recognizing her incredible dedication and contribution to our clinic. Congratulations, Rose!
At Cairns Orthopaedic Clinic, we prioritize the health and safety of our patients and staff. We follow the Queensland Health traffic light system, and the current advice level is Green. We also require all visitors to wear masks while at our practice, in line with healthcare guidelines.
Lastly, we would like to congratulate Rachel, a valued member of our team, as she embarks on her maternity leave after 8 years of dedicated support to Dr. Morrey and Cairns Orthopaedic Clinic. We wish you and your baby all the joy and blessings that parenthood brings.

"One year ago I couldn't walk, was in a huge amount of pain and felt desperate. My GP sent me to Dr Parkinson, who could see what I was going through and managed to find one time in his busy schedule to do a total knee reconstruction on my left knee. Now, one year later, I have a whole new lease on life! This specialist is truly one in a million because first and foremost he is compassionate, kind and, despite his brilliance, truly HUMAN! Throughout the whole process I felt fully supported and cared for. I can't think of any other doctor I could trust as much as I trust Dr Parkinson. Thanks to Cairns Orthopaedic Clinic as well as Cairns Private Hospital for the professional and compassionate care I have received. I am extremely grateful to all of you, and especially to the best specialist in the world- Dr Parkinson."
"I have seen Dr Ben Parkinson twice now once for each knee. This latest was a large operation and I can honestly say I couldn’t of asked for better. He is welcoming and no question is too hard or silly. Thank you again to Dr Parkinson and Team for your help and support"
"I did a complex knee Surgery with Dr Ben Parkinson and can't speak highly of him. Very straightforward and nice guy. He managed to repair my exterior Meniscus, torn ACL, remove a fair bit of loose cartridge and give me back a quality of life. Rouz S"
"Look no further than Dr. Ben Parkinson!!! I had an ACL reconstruction performed by Dr. Parkinson and simply could not be any more impressed with him. My initial consult was excellent, he really listened to what I had to say about my injury and asked the right questions to get the best outcome for me. He did not pressure me in any way and also explained all the possible options and the pros and cons of each and let me make the decision that was best for me. He is very friendly, easy to talk to and a very genuine person. He is someone you can truly trust (which I find is all too rare in the medical industry) Every single medical professional I have spoken to about Dr. Ben Parkinson has given him nothing but a raving review for how good he is really is. I am almost 24 hours post op and have not been in any pain and have lots of movement in my knee. He ordered a cat scan post-surgery, prior to discharge (which a lot of surgeons don’t do) to make 100% sure everything was as expected. He also gives a full surgery report so that the Pysios can have all the information they need to structure a rehab plan. He personally rang my mother after the surgery was complete to advise her that everything went perfectly and to assure her of how successful it was. My mother was very impressed. He visited me in the morning after surgery and always made sure I knew everything that I needed to know about the surgery and genuinely wanted to know if I had any concerns at all. He insisted on seeing me at every point possible throughout the process and also includes post-operative check ups at three different milestones over a few months to make sure I have the best outcome possible. I have never been more confident about a doctor and really did feel like I was in the best hands possible. Literally magic hands. Highly recommended in all aspects. He is trustworthy, passionate, caring, very smart and extremely competent in the work he does. I can not recommend enough."
"There are hands and there are hands, there is also magical hands. I had a total knee replacement on the 4th February and cannot say enough about Dr Parkinson and his team and the care I was given. Ben came to see me every day to check on my progress and wow, today, two weeks later I am able to walk, I am able to do my exercises without effort and I'm feeling great and pain free. To anyone who needs a knee replacement go to the magical hands of Ben!!! Elie Sopas"
