Hamlet Hobart Cafe
About the Business
Welcome to Hamlet Hobart Cafe, located at 40 Molle Street in Hobart, Australia. As a registered charity and social enterprise, Hamlet is dedicated to empowering individuals who are underrepresented in the workforce, with a specific focus on people living with disabilities.
Our mission is to provide targeted training and work readiness support to those facing barriers to employment, allowing them to build independence, reconnect with their community, and improve their chances of securing meaningful employment. We believe in questioning the structures that prevent underrepresented Tasmanians from participating in the workforce, and we work closely with the community and industry to create inclusive workplaces and lasting change.
Operating in the Tourism and Hospitality sector, Hamlet strives to address the significant skills shortages in this industry while also advocating for greater representation of people living with disabilities. Tasmania has the highest rates of people with disabilities in the country, yet this group is three times more likely to be unemployed. We want to see this change.
Through our social enterprises, including our cafe, catering services, and condiments business, we deliver hands-on hospitality training in a real workplace environment. Our participants are supported by a diverse team of hospitality professionals who are committed to providing a welcoming atmosphere and building the confidence of our participants while delivering exceptional experiences for our valued customers.
By supporting Hamlet, you are contributing to social procurement that makes a significant impact in our community. We are working towards changing the systems that prevent underrepresented Tasmanians from participating in work and community, and your support plays a crucial role in achieving this goal.
At Hamlet, we also pay our respects to the traditional and original owners of the land on which we live, work, provide training, share food, and enjoy coffee. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded, and we exist on stolen land that rightfully belongs to the muwinina people. We strive to build connections and strengthen community with the participants we train, the people who grow and share our food, and the land on which we work and live.
Join us at Hamlet Hobart Cafe and be a part of creating inclusive hiring practices, exploring opportunities for our graduates, and making a positive impact in Tasmania's Tourism and Hospitality industry. Together, we can build a more inclusive and empowered community for all.

"I had a 2 hour business breakfast at Hamlet in front of a cosy fire yesterday. I enjoyed a delicious omelette, cappuccino in a gorgeous clay cup followed by brewed oatmeal chai. All done to perfect and the staff including the trainees were lovely and professional. Highly recommend."
"The food and the forever changing menu makes you want to come back for more. The food is always spot on, I don't think I've had a dish where I have been disappointed. Its got great vibes and doing some awesome community service by training and giving disadvantaged people a sense of belonging. I just love what they are doing."
"nice spot to grab brekkie but no parking in the lot adjacent. would have loved to try their pickles and was very impressed but their pickle diversity."
"good, worth to try. 4.5/5 some best food presentation in aus. we had 3 dishes. the taste is ok but not impressive.not enough seasoning. lots of pickle but all of them lack of depth of flavour."
