About the Business
Welcome to Warners Bay Theatre, a vibrant establishment located in the heart of Warners Bay, Australia. Situated on Lake Street, our 300-capacity theatre is a premier venue for professional and amateur musical, theatre, dance, and cultural groups to showcase their talents and bring quality stage productions to life.
At Warners Bay Theatre, we are proud to embrace the rich cultural heritage of the Awabakal people, who have deep connections to this land. In fact, "baramayiba," which means "cockle place" in Awabakal, is the cultural name given to our theatre, paying homage to the original place name of Cockle Bay. We invite you to listen to the cultural name of our venue in the player below, immersing yourself in the history and significance of this special place.
As we gather on this sacred land, we remember and respect the Ancestors who cared for and nurtured this Country. It is in their footsteps that we travel these lands and waters. Lake Macquarie City Council acknowledges the Awabakal people and Elders, both past and present, for their stewardship of this land.
Our theatre offers a diverse range of performances and events that cater to all tastes and interests. From captivating documentaries exploring the impacts of history on First Nations youth, to thought-provoking discussions led by renowned experts in various fields such as forensic anthropology, criminology, and constitutional reform, there is something for everyone at Warners Bay Theatre.
We are also thrilled to host exciting performances by Australian icons, including the Australian Army Band Newcastle and the legendary Ita Buttrose, who will share their personal and national histories with us. For those seeking a good laugh, the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase Tour will bring the best of the 2023 Fest to Lake Macquarie, promising a night of hilarity and entertainment.
In addition, we offer professional development symposiums that focus on strategies to build and engage audiences in the performing arts and events industry. These symposiums provide valuable insights and knowledge for professionals looking to enhance their skills and make a lasting impact in their respective fields.
