"Despite the generosity and skills of the midwives, there seems be some major problems with Tresillian’s services and residential stay: - there’s no continuity of care and no continuity of staff. Like a lot of medical/hospital experiences, you have to keep explaining your situation to each new medical professional every day, every new shift, every different appointment. - there is no follow up care after their residential stay, which seems like a huge gap in their service delivery. You have to start again with a self-referral and begin a new round of day service appointments — I’m guessing, probably, with a new staff member — or get anonymous/general advice from the hotline if you want support after you finish the four night stay. - Without that support, we haven’t been able to successfully implement their strategies at home. We were told by their midwives that consistent application of their responsive settling method could take about three weeks before we really established the new sleep rhythms/routine. Two months on, we’re still struggling, which is wild because we’ve put everything on hold. Maybe you have to do the residential stay at the exact right time in your baby’s development otherwise it is really hard to carry the lessons from it into the changing nature of your daily life."
"QE2 was very helpful in learning to settle my baby. It's also a really comfortable place to stay where you can just focus on your baby for a few days. The nurses were great, I especially found Paddy to be amazing - she has such a calm presence which really helped me when my baby was difficult to settle."
"There needs to be more places like this. Very good staff, very knowledgeable and friendly. Also I left my wallet and they posted it to me x"
"I put off coming here literally for months as I didn't want to leave home for so long and stay somewhere new - but now I have come I definitely don't regret it. The staff were lovely, and they taught me lots of new skills in feeding and settling my baby. I feel much more confident in taking care of my baby now. Thank you! The food is also pretty good and not hospital standard even though you technically are in hospital. I was a bit worried about that as the food at TCH was disgusting (no offense TCH cooks), but it was all fresh and healthy here. Not having to cook or clean and just getting to focus on my child was great."
"Very helpful staff!"
