The Statesman Hotel

"I was so well looked after that I am recommending this warm and welcoming hotel to anyone who is looking for reasonable and very comfortable accommodation within easy access to Civic and Woden shopping centres. There is a fantastic restaurant attached, a separate bar area, large, quiet conference rooms and a separate area for breakfast with a coffee bar. All the meals I have had there have been beautifully cooked, meats perfectly done, veggies crunchy roasted, greens al dente. Pasta perfect! I was there for a sad function recently and the staff were very respectful and provided our group with tasty nibbles and a private area, enough space for everyone. The room I had for the night had very tasteful décor, was peaceful and had such cosy furnishings that as a result, I slept like a baby. Oh, and the little fridge was so quiet I didn't hear it rattle on or off once and that was a bonus! I've always been able to hear the fridge, sometimes so noisy I've unplugged them! Thank you to the management and staff, you're fabulous!"

"3 nights for a work trip. To be honest after the muck around with the on line check in we weren’t expecting much. We went to the bar to see if we could check in the old way and the lovely Joanne sorted us straight away. Rooms were very tidy and functional but 2 flights of steps from undercover parking for some rooms. Great service downstairs at the bar and bistro and the bistro food although limited menu was very good ( not great ). May get a bit noisy Friday nights or weekends ? Great location for us and we will be back."

"More than impressed with the accommodation. Cafe, Lunch and Dinner Facilities. Will definitely stay again if in Canberra. Digital Booking-In procedure was a new concept without a hitch, just had to read the Step-by-Step Instructions on the Mobile Phone. Some Guests may find it a little awkward if their experiences with technology is limited but with patience and if needed assistance is on call. Still a Reception Desk cannot be forgotten."

"We had TWO mould / mildew drenched rooms so terrible they made us physically ill. Room 13 & 27? or 28? (Directly above 13)….. Room 13 was by FAR the worst though. It was clean, tidy, beautifully kept. You couldn’t fault it but the SMELL! We had to move rooms in the late hours and no house keeping was available. The manager was lovely and assisted us to move entire mattresses made from the other room into 14. This was after my aunt started having asthma attacks and I had vomited from the sheer strength of the smell. I have spoken to Rochelle (a manager on the phone) who claimed the general manager was away. They were calling back to compensate us for the illness and inconvenience. No return call has been received and room 13 and likely the other was being made for the next person. This is a SERIOUS health hazard! Almost nothing makes me sick. Truly the strongest smelling mould / mildew EVER. Health services should definitely be locking these rooms down. If action is taken and we receive a return phone call as promised and our money back for the one night of hell and they do the right thing by the public I will alter my review to express this serious problem is solved. I will finalise with the staff at the motel itself are FABULOUS - the corporates are HORRID!"

"We didn't stay here but visited family who were. Rooms were nice my family said room servicing was really good. we had dinner here and the food was great. Service was very quick and restaurant was busy. Bar Staff were nice and friendly. Definitely come back here again."
