Jervois Street Reserve 45-47 Jervois Street, South Plympton, South Australia 5038
About the Business
Welcome to Jervois Street Reserve, located in South Plympton, Australia. This establishment is a must-visit for people of all ages, offering a wide range of facilities and activities to enjoy.
For the little ones, we have a fully fenced junior playground where they can have endless fun. They can explore the sandpit with a bucket and pulley, engage in water play, and enjoy the shade provided by a beautiful butterfly structure. Kids will love climbing the log steps to reach the mound slide and swinging on the swings under another butterfly shade.
Don't miss our iconic caterpillar sculpture, "Jervie," created by local wood artist Geoff Bromilow. Named by Rachel Dempsey, this adorable caterpillar is a favorite among visitors. And who knows, he might even munch on some apples, considering the large hole in one nearby!
The senior playground offers exciting features such as a higher-than-average flying fox, a wooden climbing frame, and a spinning-swinging tyre swing. Bright butterfly shades provide cover over the climbing frame, adding a touch of vibrancy to the area.
If you're into biking and scooting, we have a gravel "pump track" and an undulating bitumen area where you can test your skills. For older kids, there's a 3 on 3 basketball court and a netball ring to keep them entertained.
Take a leisurely stroll along the 280-meter path that encircles the site, perfect for scooting or walking. The central area of the reserve features a spacious oval with raised mounds, ensuring that balls don't roll too far away during games.
On the southern side of the reserve, you'll find chess tables and a table tennis table, so bring your equipment and challenge a friend to a game.
Throughout the reserve, you'll encounter various public art pieces that add a touch of creativity and beauty to the surroundings. If you're interested in learning more about them, visit our Art in Public Places webpage.
Jervois Street Reserve was created to provide more open space in the city's north. The land was acquired from Housing SA (now Renewal SA) in 2013, with the council and the Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure contributing to the purchase.
The reserve's development was made possible by funding from the City of Marion, the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, and a generous donation from the Edwardstown Rotary Club. Thanks to this donation, we have family facilities including a shelter, picnic tables, an electric BBQ, bins, and a drinking fountain.
The design of Jervois Street Reserve was shaped by extensive consultation with the local community and schools. The final concept plan was endorsed by the council and has received numerous accolades, including being awarded Park of the Year in the Parks and Leisure Australia (SA/NT) Awards of Excellence.
In 2017, Jervois Street Reserve was recognized as the Metropolitan Winner in the Minister for Health Excellence in Public Health Awards and was highly commended in the Heart Foundation 2017 Local Government Awards.
We're proud to have been named Destination of the Year in 2016 by Baby and Toddler Destinations Adelaide. Come and experience the tranquility of Stacking Stones, a popular activity that allows you to find your inner zen and create beautiful formations.

Reviews
"Grandchildren loved it .. just a pity some sandpit toys are damaged. Fence around play ground keeps children in, and dogs out."
"Beautiful neat and tidy park. Kids loved it. Fence to keep the kids off the road even had a toilet"
"Something for everyone at this well equipped and thought-through suburban park. The playground seems to always have kids that seem really happy and having fun. Outside of the playground, dog walkers and families playing cricket or soccer in the middle oval area take advantage of the lovely grassed area, trees, plants and walkways."
"This playground has great playground equipment and is mostly shaded by shade structures made to resemble butterflies, very well done. The toilets are the self cleaning type and are well positioned. The playground is well fenced to ensure the little ones stay where we want them."
