About the Business
Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Melrose Park! Our childcare centre is located at 135 Edward Street in Melrose Park, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest in the community, we are dedicated to providing high-quality early learning experiences for children aged six weeks to school-aged.
At Goodstart Melrose Park, we understand the importance of supporting families in their childcare journey. That's why we offer an estimator tool to help you determine your eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy. Additionally, we invite you to explore our vacancies and consider joining our team, making Goodstart your next career move.
Our commitment to early learning extends beyond our centre's walls. Goodstart at Home is a platform designed to enrich and extend your child's learning at home through play. We believe that learning should be engaging and enjoyable, and our experienced educators and teachers are dedicated to tailoring our curriculum to your child's individual interests.
Our centre features four learning spaces: Nursery, Toddler, Preschool, and a specifically designed Preschool program for children aged 3-5 years. Our evidence-based curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework and is delivered by our degree-qualified Early Childhood Teacher. We focus on nurturing children's collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking skills to ensure they have the necessary foundations for school and life.
We take pride in our stimulating surroundings, which provide ample opportunities for sensory and play-based learning. Our age-appropriate outdoor play spaces and equipment encourage children to explore their surroundings, develop an understanding of sustainability, and respect for the environment. With sandpits, natural gardens, a play kitchen, and open spaces, there's plenty of room for sun-safe play.
At Goodstart Melrose Park, we believe in the power of partnerships. We collaborate with families and the broader community to enhance our learning program with real-life visits, incursions, and exciting trips to nearby locations. Art and music experiences are an integral part of our daily activities, allowing children to freely express their creativity.
Our dedicated teaching staff are passionate and highly trained, ensuring your child receives the best care and education possible. We offer a school readiness and transition to school program, following a child-centered, teacher-guided learning framework. Our holistic approach focuses on the overall development of your child.
To make your experience even more convenient, we provide access to Storypark, your child's online learning portfolio. Our onsite qualified cook prepares fresh and nutritious meals daily, catering to all dietary requirements. Meals, nappies, wipes, cot linen, and sunscreen are provided at no extra charge.

As the Centre Director, I, Caddie, hold a Diploma in Children's Services and have been working in the early learning sector for almost 15 years, with the last 10 years at Goodstart Melrose Park. I understand the trust families place in us when they entrust their children to our care. It is my belief that children thrive in a nurturing, warm, and respectful environment where they can learn, have fun, and be themselves.
Plenty of off-street parking is available, and we kindly request that if you are leaving your car at the centre for the day, you park on Edward Street to ensure the safety of all children entering and exiting the centre throughout the day. We are conveniently located within walking distance of Castle Plaza Shopping Complex in Edwardstown.

"I sent my child to Good Start basis recommendations from one of my colleague she used to often share her child's activities , development and toilet training experience with me .I thought this place would really help my child .I chose Good Start at Melrose Park because it was closer to my house . During the tour there was a very high bar set of what activities are done ,food (we could tell them and they try and customise the food ),nappy training etc,Story Park app etc .My child started at pre kindy ,within few months of the child settling in the teacher moved out ,then the director ,then there was a swap in teachers , frequent changes is a thing at this place. I was advised by an educator to start sending home food as my child did not eat there. No one made an effort to introduce the child to any food being served at the centre . When and incident would occur the Incident reports from each educator had a different story ,when confronted I was told it was a mistake, with an apology . While I understand toilet training should start at home there was no effort made to encourage the child. When we started toilet training my child at home and asked them to help set the routine while my child was there they asked me to sendthe child in nappies till he/she is ready(all he/she needed was to be timed and reminded to go) When I asked why I did not see my child's photo during activities responses are we can't be clicking pictures always ,but your child participates . In Kindergarten you would expect some training on school readiness ,but don't expect that here .If your child is not interested in the routine no additional effort was made to bring them in and get them interested . Overall very disappointed with the whole experience !!!!!!!"
"The staff are amazing and the education program in the kindy room is an excellent preparation for school. My child has been at the centre for 3 1/2 years now and we have all had great relationships with her carers in each room as she has progressed through. All the staff (management and educators) are compassionate and have the kids best interests at heart."
"I live 2 doors away and I often hear babies/toddlers crying/whining for 1/2 hr and there seems to be no one consoling the child/ren I have attempted to phone them but it is such a lengthy process and then I was hung up on during transfer! Would not send my child there."
"Revolving door of staff and no attempt to communicate to parents that there were relievers as the "regular" (not that there really were any) staff were not in - this meant leaving my child with different strangers every day. Staff did not introduce themselves to parents, preferring to chat to each other at drop off. I don't think it's a good reflection on the centre that the staff only ever hung around for a few weeks. Some staff (mostly nursery) were lovely but others were terrible- made no effort to interact with the children, instead sitting down and playing with their phones. Not the right personalities for the role. The activities were the same every day, and the equipment was old. All of the above we dealt with, but left after several instances of picking our son up with a filthy nappy with crusted on poo that had clearly been there for hours. He was so distressed and in so much pain on these occasions, but when we raised it with staff they told us it was because he was teething- funny, because it only happened on childcare days after he had day old poo stuck to him! Another serious incident was when he tripped and had severe dental trauma- dislodged tooth and torn frenulum- and there was no phone call or incident report, so we didn't find out until the carer mentioned it in passing at pick up. If we had known earlier we could have taken him to the dentist for treatment."
"It's great, and Farhana doesn't work there any more!"
