"The team at Athena were/have been amazing since I moved there very late in my pregnancy (2021). They continue to provide outstanding care for my daughter and I and I'm so grateful we found them!"
"Given Athena Women's Clinic is meant to be a specialist womens and babies clinic, I was really disappointed with my appointment with Dr Soma. I booked an appointment with Dr Soma for mine and my baby's 6 week check up. Before the appointment I was told I needed to fill in 2 pre appointment forms which I had no problem completing. After the nurse weighed my baby, Dr Soma came in. At the time I was putting a new nappy on my baby. I asked Dr Soma about my baby's nappy rash and wanted her to have a look at it. I also asked her about a rash on my baby's face. She didn't bother looking at the nappy rash or rash on my baby's face and bluntly told me to leave all questions about my baby until I see her in her office. I think she then did the check-up on my baby because she looked at her eyes and ears. Dr Soma though didnt explain what she was doing during the checkup. The checkup also seemed rushed as she only spent about 2 minutes looking at my baby. After the nurse gave my baby their injections I then saw Dr Soma in her office. She only told me basic information about the nappy rash (which i could google). I really wanted Dr Soma though to have a thorough look at the nappy rash. She also said the rash on my baby's face was just a newborn rash. When I asked her more questions about the newborn rash she just said "it's something that newborns get." I then asked her if my baby's hips were ok as I understand some baby's can have hip issues when born. She said my baby was normal but then asked me why I would ask her that question and seemed to be irritated by my question. If Dr Soma had explained what she was doing during the checkup then I wouldnt have asked my question. She then asked me the same questions that I already answered on the forms that were sent to me previously. I didnt understand why I was being asked the same questions again. I told Dr Soma my main concern was my ab separation. She said she would check it but didn't in the end. When she asked me about drinking alcohol, I told her I sometimes have a glass of wine. But only after I'd fed my baby and had other expressed milk to feed the baby. She then demonised me for drinking any alcohol. Which I felt was uncalled for. In total mine and my baby's appointment was less than half an hour, although I spent most of that time feeding and consoling my baby. Overall I felt the appointment was rushed and that Dr Soma did not really explain what she was checking with regard to my baby.Instead seemed more focused on how the occasional glass of wine would detrimentally impact my baby's brain development."
"Excellent service at this clinic and very happy with Doctor Soma. Definitely recommend for mums to be!"
