Mirage Palace Karaoke

"First time going here. Really freaking expensive, like $125 per hour. This place is a BYO drinks and they would charge you extra if you BYO. On top of that, you HAVE to order food in order to BYO...like...really? Also their YouTube karaoke system does not work. The manager told us that it is not their system that is at fault, it was YouTube...and we have to find or browse through YouTube to find a different version of the song or clip we wanted...we can't afford to waste 10 mins looking for a clip that would work while it was $125/hour. We asked if we could use their karaoke system instead and they were like yea but it doesn't have a lot of songs...but it WORKED. Why didn't they just tell us at the start???? Their karaoke system is biased towards chinese audience. Even Western artists have Chinese name but the thumbnail was of a Western artist. Their song collection isn't too bad. They don't have the new new songs which is understandable and don't have the old old songs. The manager did restart the clock for us because of the YouTube system wasted our time. The good thing was the rooms were nice. Not very sound proof though...either that or the other people were really into singing their hearts out."

"Great rooms, well we had a large room for about 20ppl and it was good, big space, own toilet in the room. Haven't been to many other karaoke places to compare."

"Great set up, clean, large rooms. Only gave a lower rating due to poor customer service. Staff will abruptly enter turn off the music and demand an exorbitant amount of extra money extend your session knowingly taking advantage of drunk patrons, so be aware. Could easily just turn the lights on and give everyone time to wrap up."

"Dont get me wrong, Mirage Palace is a great place for getting together with friends, enjoying the night with a song. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, cool, and I did find the place clean and tidy, including the toilets. The staff were attentive (apart from the below) and even the food came pretty quickly, but was of very low quality considering it was $25 a plate that you are required to purchase. The let down and the reason for the 2 stars is the scam that is on entry. We reserved a room via phone a week prior (and rang at least twice to query prices, rules etc), and even went in to check the place before deciding. At no time prior did the staff mention their policy on BYO. It was required that we order 5 plates of food and drink mixers as we were BYO. Had we known it would not be a problem, and we would have budgeted for it, and not had a meal before going! But this is the oldest trick in the book of entertainment venues by adding charges once you arrive and have literally no other option for the night, when you are standing there, and all of a sudden are presented with a markup of 30% for extras you didnt expect or werent ready to order. Now this may be a policy, or law requirement of BYO, but there is still a obligation to disclose this upfront clearly, including a visual display of their BYO rules. Mirage Palace does none of this and this is a shame. The staff were pretty surly about it and again simply expected you to know and put up with it. Sorry its not fair dinkum to pull this. This deceptive practice needs to change and fast."

"Terrible. Save your money and go somewhere else. Quoted us one price then charged us another ($300 more), completely took advance of us just because of our large group size. Seemingly a lot of other people have experienced this. Head staff were rude and uninviting . Asked for an explanation and they were twisting our words and dismissing us. A good room can’t save this place. Toilets were also absolutely disgusting and smelt rancid. Take this as a sign, don’t go here."
