About the Business
Welcome to the ECU Library, located at Mount Lawley, Bradford Street, 2 in Australia. As an establishment, library, point of interest, and university, ECU offers innovative and practical courses across various disciplines, fostering a vibrant research culture. With three campuses in Western Australia, including Joondalup, Mount Lawley, and our South West campus in Bunbury, ECU provides a range of services and facilities that go beyond the classroom, promoting personal development and social interaction for both students and staff.
At ECU, we pride ourselves on concentrating our research efforts in areas of strength to deliver tangible outcomes. We offer numerous ways for individuals to get involved with research, providing comprehensive support services through our Research Services department. Additionally, we value industry partnerships and offer access to world-class research through our nine ECU Strategic Research Institutes and Centres, connecting stakeholders to our talented pool of professionals across various disciplines and research topics. We collaborate with businesses of all sizes, from new start-ups and small to medium enterprises, to not-for-profits, community organizations, government entities, and large corporations in the resources sector. Moreover, ECU delivers tailored training programs to meet industry needs.
In line with our commitment to education, ECU offers the Children's University Edith Cowan program, inspiring students between the ages of seven and fourteen to develop confidence and a love for learning through validated activities beyond the school curriculum. We also provide the Inspiring Minds scholarship program, which offers equity scholarships to students who may not have had access to education otherwise.
For our alumni, we offer various benefits, including career development opportunities and other alumni benefits. We encourage graduates to stay connected and share their achievements with us.
Within our Campus Libraries, we provide group and silent study rooms that can be booked, ensuring a conducive environment for learning. Our libraries offer a range of resources and services, including assistance with finding information, assignments, and technology. We also provide SLIDE (Student Learning in a Digital Environment), which helps students navigate digital resources effectively.
Our Library Guides assist students in focusing their research and provide access to subject-specific guides, how-to guides, eBook information, and more. We offer support for printing, laptop loans, off-campus assistance, document delivery from other libraries, computer access, accessible services, library collections, and the Learning and Career Hub, among other resources.
Our Library Peer Assistants, who are students familiar with ECU, provide general support and advice, including assistance with ECU's learning technologies. They are available both on campus and online to help students.
In addition to drop-in sessions, we offer workshops on referencing, EndNote, digital skills, and research skills. Students can also schedule appointments with our knowledgeable librarians for further assistance. We provide access to the Digital Literacy Framework, as well as resources for creating reading lists and submitting high-use collections. Researchers can find support for publishing, open access, performance analytics, research data management, and thesis submissions. We also offer tailored research support and workshops for research staff and higher degree by research students.
ECU Library resources are not limited to current students and staff. ECU graduates, community members, and reciprocal borrowers can access our resources as well. Our ECU Archives support the collection, preservation, and access to the recorded memory of ECU and our predecessor agencies.

"Love Level 4, the silent floor."
"Please update your opening hours. Apparently Saturday and Sunday are closed."
"Libraries are changing, becoming more welcoming as a fun, collaborative and creative space. ECU Library strive at accomplishing this. Space is an issue though, a bigger space is in much need."
"I still remember those days in ECU Library. Fantastic and best place to be !"
"Roll Up, Roll Up, Come One and All And Despair! See the amazing s-show that demonstrates why online is tragically succeeding as a desperate student's primary resource base, and how service with a snarl is de jour! The amazing Unhelpful Desk of Level 2! Incredible Invisible Staff! (Wha, you expect the necessary bookscanners to work? Go home undergrad fool, we have Cert in Library Card Stamping). Oooh, even the rooms with 'STAFF' painted huge on the walls on level 3 are just filled with more students hogging the tables watching Netflix. Spooooookkkyyyyyy... See paper stick on numbers that lead to a vertible Maze of Mirror-like shelves, so you will NEVER find Australian Literature (sad headspinning clowns will laugh manically on their pikes, as you helplessly look through the 822 Dewey section where those books by any logical reasoning SHOULD BE -- but WHY WOULD THEY put a SIGN OR A MAP up to inform users that they are ON A DIFFERENT SIDE OF THE BUILDING ALTOGETHER? Are you serious?? No no no! )! And don't get us started on THE SIDESHOW OF SO-CALLED SILENT ROOMS. Turn up that Netflix group session a little louder would-ya? I hear Stephen King was setting the remake of 'It' here until he discovered the decor was too early 90s Dot Matrix printer even for him, and settled for the horror of the not-good-enough-for--WAAPA-after-all-radio broadcast rooms instead. Grue. Some. Would give half star rating, but they put Ikea seats in a dinky alcove on Floor Two, so clearly someone *tried*."
