Welcome to Lucy Morice Kindergarten, a beloved institution located in the heart of North Adelaide on Sussex Street. With a rich history dating back to 1935, our kindergarten was founded by Lucy Morice with the vision of providing a captivating garden for children to explore and learn, while promoting their overall health and wellbeing.

Today, our kindergarten continues to uphold the same moral purpose that Lucy Morice instilled all those years ago. Families cherish our leafy surroundings and appreciate our close proximity to the parklands and city. We pride ourselves on offering a high-quality play-based program in an emotionally nurturing and intellectually stimulating environment, where children can develop a lifelong love for learning.

At Lucy Morice Kindergarten, we believe that all children are capable and competent learners. Our dedicated educators create an environment that encourages imagination, curiosity, investigation, wonder, discovery, creation, and learning. We foster secure and reciprocal relationships among children and educators, using our knowledge of each child's strengths and interests to plan personalized learning experiences.

We celebrate the uniqueness of each child and respect individual and cultural differences. With high, reasonable expectations for all children, we value and encourage persistence, empathy, and optimism. We believe in close partnerships with families to enhance achievement and wellbeing, and we support children in developing positive dispositions towards discovery and learning.

Our indoor area consists of two spacious rooms that provide a range of educational opportunities and experiences, as well as a designated space for group activities. Equipped with resources to support literacy and numeracy development, our center also offers construction equipment, games, puzzles, art materials, music, and books.

Outside, our upgraded outdoor area is a haven for play and exploration. It features a large covered sand pit area, a climbing space, shady trees, a designated climbing tree, a vegetable garden, natural lawn and garden beds, a water pump, a mud kitchen, a quiet fairy garden, and many other engaging play spaces.

At Lucy Morice Kindergarten, our educators are guided by the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework of Australia. This framework recognizes the critical importance of early childhood development and emphasizes the value of play-based learning. It also highlights social and emotional development, as well as early literacy and numeracy skills.

Our curriculum is based on careful observations of children's interests and engagement with play experiences. We gather information from their knowledge, experiences, and interests to shape inquiry projects that challenge thinking and foster new learning. Our program is inclusive of all children, cultures, and additional needs.

In addition to our daily play activities, we also offer various enriching experiences such as Dancify, Stay and Play sessions, short walks in the community, excursions, incursions, and Little Athletics.
