About Adelaide Swords Club
Welcome to Adelaide Swords Club, the oldest fencing club in South Australia! Founded in 1936 as the “Adelaide Amateur Fencing Club”, we have a rich history and a strong community of fencers. Located in North Adelaide, specifically at Tynte Street, 62-80, our club is a prominent establishment and a point of interest for anyone interested in the sport.
At Adelaide Swords Club, we take pride in our esteemed members, who include Olympians, World Championship medallists, State Champions, State and National Team members, and National Champions. With such a talented and experienced group, our club provides a fantastic opportunity for fencers of all levels to improve their skills and achieve their goals.
As the largest club in Adelaide, we cater to a diverse range of fencers, from absolute beginners to those aiming to reach the highest level in the sport. Our training sessions, open bouting, and private lessons take place on Monday and Wednesday nights, offering a flexible schedule for our members. If you're not a club member, you can still join us for a casual visit.
On Saturday mornings, we run beginner and intermediate classes specifically designed for kids, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for young fencers to learn and grow. If you have previous fencing experience or belong to another club or school, we welcome you to get in touch with us to determine the best session for you to attend. We are always happy to have new members join our club!
If you're new to fencing and eager to learn, our learn to fence page will provide you with the guidance and resources you need to get started. Fencing offers three different styles: foil, epee, and sabre. While they share common footwork and principles, each style has its own weapon and rules. Competitive fencers often choose to specialize in one weapon, but you're welcome to explore and find the style that suits you best.
Adelaide Swords Club is conveniently located at the North Adelaide Primary School, where we gather to fence and train. We acknowledge that this land, on which our club stands, is the traditional country of the Kaurna people. We pay our respects to their elders past, present, and emerging, and recognize that this land always was and always will be their land.
Join us at Adelaide Swords Club and become part of a vibrant and passionate fencing community. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced fencer, we have the resources, expertise, and support to help you succeed. Get in touch with us today and embark on an exciting journey in the world of fencing!

Reviews of Adelaide Swords Club
"Excellent trainer and service provided. The session was personal and intimate given the small number of participants. Highly recommended."
"Who would think fencing was so much fun?! Ursula put us through our paces and taught us the basic moves. I would recommend the “Try Fencing” class to anyone looking for a new skill or sport to join! Had a great time - friendly, supportive, and fun!"
